7th and 9th Undead, What fun stuff have people had passed? Options

Hi All

Looking at MR Undead for one of my characters (Dracolich) and wanted to see what people had had passed for 7th and 8th or some fun ideas!

I'm thinking along the lines of some control lesser undead type abilities but really don't know what's possible!

Any ideas apprecaited!

I think potentially understanding your class will also help here, i mean if your Spirit Summoner or Undead Master rolling some of this into your race will probably be easier otherwise you may find controlling undead expensive and very limited.

Whats background ethos of the character?

I'm coming from a N/N druid/spirit warrior background, member of a pro-undead legion.

Wanted to play on the lich background of controlling undead but do get that may be tricky from a druid background.

Any fun thoughts appreciated!

Standardly MR Undead is only available to any evilly aligned character so you might struggle with N/N - maybe if druid - go with gravedirt option or MR as a Samila Graveyard - especially if want to control undead - might get some way to control the physical bodies in the grave yard?

I think this is a good idea by Giles! Possibly something along the lines of controlling corpses be they just dead or inhabited by an undead spirit

Anyone got any suggestions as to how I'd put something like that together?

Base race change: OOC, this is a little late as usually it would be the first thing bought and I have played a little. However, my character is caught off guard by the spirit of a graveyard (like an undead samila), which crushes my current spirit / soul (obliterating it forever), inhabits the carcass left behind and controls my body going forward. I become a place spirit of a fresh graveyard, recently filled with corpses from the battle of <insert>. The trauma of so many dead, so suddenly and buried in haste left a lingering anguish that I am now the embodiment of.

Upon purchase, my base race changes to "L1 Graveyard Samila". I am as per published Samila for base life and innates. I retain a full spirit as in keeping for an undead but gain immunity to neuronics (not that useful - see MR option below) and 1/2 effect magic. I retain full effect from F&B / EP as I am a spirit of a graveyard, filled with rotting corpses that sustain and feed me. I may be controlled / dismissed as per normal for a L1 undead.

I may only MR to published undead 1- 6. However, I retain my NN alignment <you may want to instead say your alignment becomes EN> and full effect to EP throughout. I may buy as a Samila. Note that I retain weapon skills gained from being a Druid / Spirit Warrior but have a terrible terrible base life (29/9) that does not improve via MC options (it may improve in 7/8 undead)

Ben, this is one version that nets you some cool interesting innates but severely limits your life. An alternative would be to lose Samila benefits (1/2 magic, innates) and retain base life from current classes. From here, there is loads of NS opportunity.

There’s plenty of mileage for non-standard undead. Use the published ones as a template and then add amendments at L1 and in what innates you get. My tree ghoul druid for example is fully affected by EP F&B and gets petrification, blindness, earth shift and collapse into a pile of compost (statue form) as innates to buy. You probably just put “becomes evil” in L1.

Lots of options - graveyard spirits, some kind of bog wight from Rothil fens, tree ghoul, petrified undead treant, an undead banner, where the banner’s the undead and it infests and empowers the soldier its bonded too; some kind of undead ‘host’. And so on.

You could always go some kind of undead based around Mylo if you’re a legionnare too (the one armed ‘ghoul’ spearman who’s the primal god of the unknown soldier/the common spear). So as ghoul but a few different innates, also maybe chance to stay neutral.
