QUOTE(RichardCraig @ Sep 15 2019, 08:06 PM) *
I'd suggest that a slight change to carlo's idea that people just drop off an even lope with all their stuff in the morning with desk staff. they could do uses, check cards write the debrief sheet, do peoples makes etc..

Ref just gets a pile of envolopes at the end of the day, rips up cards if death has occurred otherwise just has to add points and pass envelope back.

I personally think this is a great idea, Everything goes to the desk when you are paying for your dungeon including a copy of your battle board with items listed. the desk can cross off all uses etc, complete part of the debrief sheet. It means people will be a bit more organised but surely that is a good thing!

I am not really bothered by the blow up date vs uses argument but in terms of making it fair for all, handing everything over to the desk seems like a great idea to me.

I would just like to add that its really cool that the management have taken peoples feed back on board and are looking into other ideas. Some other games I play would not look kindly on there players having an opinion smile.gif

A list on a battleboard (or back of) listing all items being battleboarded and BUD / Number of uses left at the time of being battleboarded would help bring it to everyone's attention, ref and player

It means a bit more hassle for players perhaps but in the big scheme of things pre-battleboarding shouldn't be an issue.

Personally I actually list my item derived innates separate on my electronic battleboard to make checking them off easier (I even worked out a formulae for stat based items that just deleted the benefits from my battleboard on their blow up date, but I'm sad and I like Excel although I have relatively so few items I don't bother with it ~ lol)

I think just bringing the concerns to general attention that either

(A) It's a problem with referees not doing all their job*
(B) It's cheating to deliberately withhold uses

Might be enough to help remedy the situation.

*I appreciate that the amount of paper admin has gone up over the years but by the same token the old style debrief where the ref explained why you got the points you got went the way of the dodo

I think the CMT / GSM have been exemplary in saying this is the reason we are doing it but every system change that has effectively begun: "a few people have abused X, Y or Z so we're penalising everyone by removing it" have always been the most contentious.

As someone else has said, its good for the Management to listen to and solicit feedback.

My favourite ideas on this thread have been:

Senior reffs on desk checking random character per dungeon to make sure everything is sorted.

Moving to a culture of clearly listing items on battleboard

Reffs being encouraged/reminded to remember to ask for consumables as w whole

Challenging those players who are quite open about not having spends signed on/not battleboarding uses

Check-in refs

Between around 9 and 10:15, two referees who are playing that day (ideally on different adventures) are sitting at a table upstairs with a little sign. All players go to them and get monster points signed on, items checked, abilities signed on, uses crossed off and details entered onto the debrief sheet. They can also be available at lunchtime if necessary

I’d happily do this for a cup of tea or a few monster points.

At the end of the day the ref knows that everyone on the sheet has had their admin done. They therefore only have to do admin for the one or two who were late.

Maybe if you haven’t been checked in you lose 5 character points for the day, maybe not?

Your ref can then focus on giving you a great day while someone else picks up the admin.

+1

And happy to be on the hook for turning up early as player or ref to do this on behalf of ‘the day’ for a small monster point inducement, etc.

Add 2 extra check boxes on the debrief sheet.
Items checked, consumables checked. Tick for yes, cross for no. Repeat offenders dealt with and the whole club doesn't suffer. Because let's be honest, if you're gonna cheat on items, you're gonna cheat on scrolls etc.

Until cards get lost and i know they will at some point, been tried before for myths and all cards got lost.

Extra tick box on debrief sheet as Stacey suggested is the easiest and best solution so far.
