To the mercenary community

Many of you will be aware of the existence of this book that was recovered at the Final Dawn just passed. It contains words of power that can be mastered through research and training.

It has been hidden until today when it was recovered from an unholy champion known as Darren. He was quite a decent chap who willingly gave of his vitae to protect the plane of Tivoria. I am unsure of how the book came into his possession.

Anyway, this book as the potential to be of great use to the mercenary community and it should be shared and accessible to all. I believe this was the plan when it was recovered at the Dawn and agreed by those mercenaries if note present.

As such my current intention is to place it in the Inquistional Vaults in Halgar where anyone bar outlaws or those of malicious intent can come to study it and make copies if desired. I will let you know when this is all in place.

Obviously, it may disappear from my possession at some point if it is linked to another in some way. Again, I will update you if this happens.

Apathy, I will provide space in the 'ultra-secure' vaults such that nobody will be able to recall it from there or similar, but so that all can access it and may do so to study, learn, use, make copies of segments to seek to translate and so on (with the non-outlawed proviso Apathy states).

Given it largely relates to matters of spiritual significance (words of power), it falls clearly within the department of the Spiratus, and as such Apathy should be considered in charge of such. I'm sure there are a number of safeguards he will wish to put in place to ensure those who wish to study and use it, return it swiftly to the vault, such that others can also so use and study it (and so it becomes a valuable tool for all within the mercenary community).

Dear Apathy,

I am Dakarn Khan of the cloud way, a warrior of spiritual power and in good standing with the Empire.

I would be interested in borrowing the Lexicon for a mission this Starsday. What is the best way in which I could arrange this?

Many thanks

Dakarn

Top marks for enthusiasm!

Alas, it will not be possible for the book to leave the inquistional vaults until the appropriate ritual safeguards are put in place.

You have my assurances that we are working on this as quickly as possible. We simply cannot risk the book being lost, stolen or simply forgotten about.

Bearing in mind it has been hidden for the entire year since its discovery, I am sure we can wait just a little longer to ensure its ongoing accessibility and sensible use in maintaining the supernatural stability of Primus.

I will provide further updates as soon as is feasible.

Regards
Apathy

Apathy,
The Lexicon of Creation was indeed hidden, hidden from most while protective rights were cast upon it and pacts were made to protect its vast power and secrets from falling into the hands of the enemies of Primus.
You say recovered and I would say snatched from the still warm clutches of a hero. It came to be in his possession because we had the foresight to share it and know that it may be needed, and he was polite enough to ask for it.
Your current intention is misguided, it will not be place within the inquistional vault, it will be returned to the Tryst temple in Halagr, were it will be available to all who request it, and wish to use it, unless that use would in any way bring harm to Primus. This was the Trysts plan at the final dawn when they recovered it, mercenaries of note may have had other ideas, but they did not shed blood or sweat to recover it.
It will not disappear from your possession, that is too easy to stop, as your learned friend Nexus has already tried to state. However you will find as it has not been returned to the Tryst temple it is limp, lifeless and without power. So please return it in a swift fashion, and join an orderly line to withdraw it from the library.

Nexus, your space in the “ultra-secure” vault is not required, a worthless scrap book has no need of such security. Whilst I appreciate you excitement to place Apathy in charge of the book, that is sadly not your power to grant. Be assured the Lexicon is perfectly safe, and requires none of your mentioned safe guards, it will be more than adequately defended by the Church of Tryst, a church who have defended primus many times from all manner of foes for decades. Again if you wish to study it yourself, please feel free to join the que behind Apathy.
As mentioned Dakarn Khan would like to peruse the lexicons pages on Saturday, so I would be grateful if you would see it returned before he travels out for mercenary work, it would appear he is next in the que.
Lord Jasiah Blackheart.

I’m sorry, but I was there when it was recovered, along with a few other mercenaries when others were busy sorting Rodanne, going to amlas, fighting Tyler wrath, it has been nearly a year since we discovered this book, I have no memory of the tryst stating publicly this book was for use or investigation by anyone. I hold hold titles nor control a church but do not say, the tryst where the only people who recovered it.

On the note, I do not remember any tryst priests at the dawn...

For what it is worth, not that I expect either group involved in this discussion to listen to me for an instant, it seems to me that the book should immediately be destroyed.

The knowledge within it has been hidden and unaccessed for a reason. As amply demonstrated by the discussion now occurring, its presence is likely, on balance, to create more dissension and destruction than anything else. That dissension is before one factors in the inevitable point at which someone certifiably insane manages to get their hands on it and more blood and vitae is spilt retrieving it before all of Creation ends because someone can't read properly.

Whilst Darren proved that, in the right hands, in the right place, and at the right time, the Lexicon may be most beneficial....overall, it is not meant for mercenaries. Disaster will inevitably ensue.

Yes Lord Inquisitor do as you're told.
Since when did the Empress put the Church of the Tryst in charge.
I was there at the Dawn and Senator Be'Akris seemed to be under the impression it was going to be returned to him,
that's what the person keeping it company in the tavern had agreed. Maybe he changed his mind.
It seems no one can be trusted where this book is concerned.
I'm inclined to agree with Ignatius, it's more trouble than it's worth, best destroy it, like its author intended, should be easy if it's limp and without power. But then what would I know, I'm just a Yeoman.

Indeed I was on the mission at the Dawn and wasn’t even allowed to look at the book the Tryst bloke had already latched his imbaiu claws into!

I was told not to worry as it would soon be open to all viewers from a secure location so just be patient. Nearly a year on and I still couldn’t tell you what it looks like... the reason for this can only be it’s too powerful to share!

I’m with Iggy - destroy it with ritual Fire, it’s the only way to be sure!

Did... did we really just get someone try to suggest that a relic can be protected from enemies of primus by daemonic pacts? Could there be a more stereotypical enemy of primus if you tried?

My (worthless) vote joins the choir of "burn the book".

If we're going to trash the thing we need to finish the job properly.
I'll take the ashes and put them in three pots, then hide one in a tomb, one with some fey and one in the woods.
(you know, the woods that have that witch who gives passers-by who do a job for him that "reform book" potion he brews.)
Does anyone know where you hire black orcs from?

I don't know what it does but everybody wants a piece of it... so here's my idea... for what its worth... /bow

If its going to be burnt to a crisp and not used, perhaps I could have a thimbles worth of the ash to merge with some swords, armour and horse shoes I am about to make...

I suspect that it would add a little something extra to the mix... imagine the sparks from your freshly shoed horse as it prances about... /wink

Seems such a shame to waste it otherwise... what could possibly go wrong ? blink.gif
