To my mercenary allies,

I bear information regarding the fragments of the Shattered World currently convergent within Port Miere. I should state first of all that much of this information comes from a trade I have made with Tinashe, the Silvered Emissary - but I am confident that it is all true.

When the Shattered World was broken, it fragmented into a thousand pieces. Many, many of these were lost to the entropic decay of the exostance, the violence of the world's destruction, and the nature of how it was destroyed. I do not believe it even within the power of the Mistress of the Undersea to have rescued them as She did the others.

Only a hundred fragments now remain.

These fragments have congealed into great stretches of land that now exist in impossible formations, and those formations are what the Netter has caught. These amalgamations are neither identical in size, nor shape. Whether the conglomeration of these fragments was Her intention, or a side effect of Her catching them, or something else - I am unsure.

You have visited one of these amalgamations already, where you located the Goddess Chibueze and within Her care the God Chisomo. This amalgamation was unlike the others, containing as it did not one but two of the Pantheon. I surmise that due to Their presence, this fragment was caught separately - though it was small in landscape, it was large in power.

The three convergences with the Shattered World that remain are all amalgamations on a much, much larger scale - one that is impossible to see within Port Miere. Indeed, were you to travel to one, you would find a single place. Imagine that these anomalies are like rooms that contain a door you cannot see. You may see what is in the room, and resolve that anomaly, but you would miss the door.

But if you can see the door - then you can open it.

In order to see the door, you must attune yourselves to the Shattered World. This would normally be very complex; attuning yourself to a plane that no longer exists save in these fragmented echoes is complex. Fortunately, there are several key links back to that plane. Seven of them, in fact.

With the power of the Pantheon of Seven, attunement and entry are possible. You possess many shards of Their power already - the ribbons of Rachane, the threads of Chibueze, the angel of Chisomo, the parchments and gems of the Watcher. The Silvered Emissary, as part of our bargain, has granted me a portion of Her power - and given that someone has summoned the Enkindled One to manifest over Port Miere, it should be easy to gather some of Her power.

I believe that I am capable of devising a ritual that will allow you to use these fragments to attune yourselves - and thus pass through into all that remains of the Shattered World. I am uncertain what you will find there. The Emissary's envoy appeared convinced that there is absolutely nothing there that lives; nonetheless, there is clearly some echo of what was there, else the Pantheon would not be so interested in it.

Should this be agreeable to you, I shall begin preparations and meet you at the Eastern Waystation on the 10th.

C.A.

While this all sounds widely dangerous, it is important that we do what we can to save these powers and prevent Rachane from eating them all. If we can save some semblance of the shattered world also, and possibly people, perhaps converged there or remaining in some form, then we should.

I am on board with this plan.

Unless I am quite mistaken, 'wildly dangerous' is the mercenary profession.

I believe that I am now close to completing the ritual, though it would appear I am missing a key component - the name of the Shattered World. Without this it will be difficult to tether the invocation - though perhaps not impossible. I will do what I can to discover it in the coming days, but given the lack of links between Primus and the Shattered World (the present situation notwithstanding) I do not hold out much hope.

I have, however, been successful in acquiring the essence of the Enkindled One. It is...exceptionally unpleasant to hold. I would not advise doing so unless you have rendered yourself completely impervious to fire. It is additionally attempting to interfere with my mind in some manner - unsuccessfully, of course, but again worthy of note. I will bring it with me on Sunsday.

Find me something significant from the Shattered World or a remnant of it and I can very likely find its name. I suspect I might be able to do so from some of the Ribbons. I'll will investigate further on Sunsday.

I still have a bad feeling about the Shattered World's divinities - I don't know why, but it feels like the existence of divinities which don't require faith to exist, in a world where they do, has potential for something to go wrong. I can't pin down why, and I can't find a precedent, although I'll keep looking, but something makes me think this won't end how we might want it.

Still going, obviously.

Following your trip to the Shattered World - or Tivoria, as I suppose we are now able to call it - I have been monitoring the presence of the Pantheon of Seven in Port Miere. I am concerned, as I am sure you all are, that we must strike a balance between resolving the anomalous threats to the city and discovering what the presence of the Pantheon means for Primus as a whole.

This has been made all the more urgent by a message I was brought by one of the Waystation's accumulated residents earlier today. As you are no doubt aware, we have been housing a few refugees and others who have fallen victim to events in Miere - those capable of leaving the city, that is. One of these persons is Alinafe, an angel that you rescued from within the city some time ago. He has this evening told me that he is able to feel his Lord's presence again, for the first time since the Devourer's assault upon Him. I escorted Alinafe to the map, through which we observed that Lady Chibueze is no longer shielding Lord Chisomo as She has been - and more worryingly, that the Haven upon Them is beginning to fade.

This has led me to conclude that it is imperative that we resolve the issues with the Pantheon of Seven as soon as possible. I think we are all in agreement that the Devourer should not be permitted to continue consuming His kin; we have quite enough Divine whose demesnes are corruption and destruction as it is. To this end I would like to propose the following timetable.

A month from now, or sooner as time permits, you make a second trip to Tivoria. From the reports I have read thus far it would seem that the Pantheon are even more inextricably tied to that plane than any of us had thought. I sincerely doubt it will be possible to stop the Devourer without the knowledge contained therein - or without engaging some of the more drastic plans like sending Him after the Shadow of the First Evil and hoping they kill one another in the process. Thus, Tivoria must be the first port of call. I will begin making the necessary arrangements.

This gives us two more months to resolve the remaining anomalies in Port Miere. Given the number remaining I believe this is more than enough time - plus, I add with all the optimism I can gather, some extra room to deal with any other problems that crop up in the meantime. At worst, I will simply hire a larger group of mercenaries close to the Dawn to ensure as much as possible is resolved.

Inquisitor Wilton

I would add that the Kallah and others present in Miere did not think it would last until the Dawn if events continue unchecked. If we can resolve the issue with the Shattered World that will likely buy us more time. I am aware I have a report to write up, I can only blame the delay on people trying to get me killed in the boring normal manner of things. I still think there is a clever plan to be had that could weaken Louhi / Certizal at the same time as dealing with the Devourer, but we do need more information to put it together.

We also have a decision to make about the angel of Tinashe that wanted to negotiate with us. I would like to know about Louhi's pact, as we seem to be continually on the back foot, but I found the angel entirely untrustworthy (I think it was the giggling and put on appearance of endearing helplessness that really would me up, but that might just be me). Of course everyone has an agenda, and at present I don't think any of these gods are doing anything other than follow their own, but I remain unconvinced that their existence here will be good for Primus. I also would like to help the dead of Tivoria, though, however much that is actually possible.

Do we have any way of divining any information about what caused the Great Spirits to convince their followers to speak the Word, thus causing the destruction of the world? It seems likely the answer will be no, unless we are on Tivoria, and if we are right we are dealing with something that manipulated gods (or as were city spirits / proto-gods?), two of whom laster because dedicated to finding information. So it might be a little above our pay grade.

I have found myself able to scry about Tivoria, but not about the Great Spirits - other than those things that were widely known of them.

I think we should be thinking on how to get these 'city gods' from Tivoria back to Tivoria. It may be that this is not perfect and may have to change but it sets us on a path to find what word they said and who told all of them the word. They were spirits/gods of cities - finding a way bring them back may solve the problem of the Devourer. The Watcher wanted the land saved for a reason - can we discover that reason?

I also think we should be thinking how we can use their gods power to reconverge the shattered world and save the people there; reforming their physical forms from their echoes.

I am in favour of providing the angel with a piece of the Watchers paper. He wanted to know what she was doing and thought that giving the paper might provide him an opportunity to do so. I'm of a mind that the more information we have the better.

Whilst I don't trust Tinashe or the angel, neither are actively malign and the Watcher does not object to thd use of its paper, so we won't be ruining any potential negotiations there. Louhi and Certizal are both threats to Port Miere and the wider Empire and we are no further forward in working out a plan to kill Louhi, which we will need to do before the Dawn. In the circumstances and given the shortness of time before we return to Tivoria i'm going to hand over a sheet of the paper. I'd rather not, but I think it's the least worse course.

Hello!

I was going to come and say hello to all of you in person but then I realised that that would be tedious and boring and actually I have better things to do with my time than chase after mercenaries sooo...

Not that I'm not very happy to be talking to you. Or writing. Yes, that. Heehee. Right. Yes. I got your paper! She says thank you. Well, what She actually said was 'oh yes, this will do - well done, little one' but you know that's basically thank you or at the very least it's thank you from me and I'm part of Her so - yep!

Now for what I promised you. Two questions, one of which you've already asked, the other you can ask me whenever you need (if you just um say my name a bunch I'll hear - eventually, I get distracted easily).

Question the oneth! So this Louhi person who it turns out is absolutely awful has made a deal with the Watcher because haha, the Watcher. What they agreed is this: the Watcher will teach Louhi how Rachane works. How He consumes and devours, how He transforms what He consumes into part of Himself. This was taught in the form of a ritual which Louhi could then use, but it only works on people who are kin to him, because that's also Rachane's favourite - um - food. Not food. Gods. But you know what I mean. Yeah.

Sooo in return, each time nasty Louhi wants to perform one of these rituals, he's gotta do the Watcher a favour. And cause I promised to tell you everything, I even managed to work out what those were! Lucky you. So the first time was pretty simples because Louhi just put a bunch of the Watcher's weird stalker gems in some places in Port Miere. The second time, he built a shrine to the Watcher in one of the broked places you call anomalies. And the third time he summoned Khurshid to Port Miere which I mean is kind of awful but also really useful but you know that because you left Her there, haha.

The only other other thing I know is that currently the Watcher is in debt to Louhi because that third task, summoning Khurshid, he hasn't been paid for yet. Or I mean he's got the power to do the ritual but he hasn't done it yet? But he's definitely going to. I'm not sure when because the future is wibbly like that, sorry. Even She can't be absolutely certain.

And She thinks that Louhi wants to try it once more but um I guess that's not surprising to you. She doesn't know what the Watcher will want for that one. As soon as She knows I'll tell you because that's part of the deal but obviously I might not know till afterwards. Scrying about people who can't be scried about is kinda tricky even when you're a Goddess of Knowledge and whatnot. Well not whatnot. I don't think She'd want me to call Her - okay you get the idea.

So there you go! I'll be heeeere listening for when you have another question. Just yell!

Elia,
Angel of the Almighty Rock
And Whatnot

I see no point in discussing this elsewhere as she's listening anyway.

My initial thoughts are that -

is there some way we can make Louhi's brothers and sisters (that are left) not part of his family?
eg. get them ritually adopted out in some fashion. Admiral Rivan Trakand would be the most obvious person I could think of to adopt them - he's alfari, founder of Port Miere and well suited by outlook and profession?

Next point - if we could discover the ritual that Louhi used to summon Kurshid - could we use it to summon Kurshid back to his/her city on Tivoria?
If I had to make a guess - whilst Tivoria persists - the gods don't need followers and shrines and such - as they are subsisting on what they have from there. The Watcher and who he wants to join him (Kurshid for some reason) is having a shrine built so he will continue - at some point the net will be removed and the others will no longer be sustained. Rachane presumably can exist from what he has fed on. Maybe Kurshid has been put there by the Watcher as something to distract Rachane whilst the Watcher works out how to deal with him (or manipulate us). Anyway it's an idea.

I defer to you Liara and what question you think is important, but I'd like to know how we go about rebinding the gods/city spirits to Tivoria?

Morgan

Breaking the familial link between Louhi and the others is a interesting plan. They aren't actual family, they just came to consider themselves so, its one of the reasons that Louhi was so angry when he discovered Achramas wasn't loyal to the Reaver God in the same way as he was. There's an irony in him disowning her for that, breaking his ties with the rest of them, and then using those ties to consume them all, but we already knew he's a dick. He doesn't, I believe, have any actual family because the Chosen killed their parents for sending them to the Island. On that sort of note, I was wondering this morning, in a very vague way, about whether Achramas might be a good choice for the Reaver God's mantle. I'd like it taken (and quite possibly changed at the same time) before some power-hungry evil-doer gets their sticky paws on it; I'm not sure if she's right as she has loyalties to another primal god, but its maybe worth exploring. We know we need to keep Tapio safe, though at present he is doing a good job of that by himself.

I think the question about the Tivorian gods (and I agree its a good one) is possibly best asked when we are there, in the same way as we want to know if we can do anything for the echoes of the people there.

I think the Watcher wants to recreate Tivoria, but that's a pure guess based on his pact with the Netter. I agree he might be using Kurshid as a distraction for Rachanne, at present that suits us as it keeps Rachanne away from Chisomo and Chibueze.

Do we know who's coming with us on this little outing? And whether any of them know how to draw shapes this time?

On a note which I am certain will please you, I believe that as long as some of you travelling to Tivoria are attuned, your entire group will be able to enter the door - thus, there should be no reason for you to repeat the previous 'tests'. Likewise you may as well enter through the cleared door, since it transpires that all of the Tivorian fragments are connected.

For what it is worth, my opinion is that at the very least the Devourer should be destroyed. Not that to destroy a Divine is any simple task, nor that I know a method of doing so - but I truly see no benefit in His continued existence, and a great deal of disbenefit.

C.A.

I don't disagree with you but I am not sure 'destroying him' is something we can do, I also think it's playing into the Watcher's hands.
One thing occurs to me - could we use the rite that Louhi uses on Rachane himself?
Could we use it on Louhi?

My personal view is that the Watcher is trying to preserve Tivoria because there is power there that he needs to tap until he can become a god on Primus in his won right - hence getting Louhi to build a shrine.
I think going ahead sending them back to Tivoria and I include Rachane - might neutralise them as a threat, but also save that place or at least reconstitute it.

I'm sorry to intrude.

My Lady of Tears feels that I can be of assistance, though I know not how - if that would be welcome?

I note that someone named The Devourer is involved. Augurs well. I suppose it's too much to hope that he is named that simply because of his love of confectionery?

The sweet chocolatey taste of the lifeless corpses of his divine siblings.

Whilst I remember, I think the issue with using Rachane's power to consume Louhi (or to enable Tapio or Achramas to do so) is that they would likely take on his powers, as he has done with Mielikki and Ilmater, and his powers are those granted to him by Certizal. They / we would become wielders of the corrupt power of Sofe, which sounds like a bad plan.
