Early this morning there were reports of a theft from the farmstead in Rivers Find, just on the borders of the broken lands. It was presumed that once again the tribals had stolen what was not theirs.

This was only the beginning of what was to be an eventful day. What started as a small skirmish outside the farmstead, lead to a massacre of the Broken lands southern defence legion. Seems to be something with an Axe had been completely unrelenting in their attack.

As the imperial troops arrived for shift change they met resistance from the large number of Black orcs, both sides calling for reinforcements. What had started as a brawl was slowly turning into a battle with no side really gaining ground but losses mounting on both sides.

Continued fighting and troop build up at Rivers Find.

As the dawn broke over Rivers Find the ground glistened, covered in blood from the continued fighting overnight. Both sides had been busy sending out messages and runners for reinforcements. The Warhorns of the Tribes had been heard all over the southern edges of the Broken lands, many tribes calling out to one another, much like a green river heading south to join the fight.
On the other side the Imperial troops had not been idle, rallying their troops from the forts of the broken lands and marching quicktime to be ready for the morning engagements. Large numbers of Spears were now moving in to support the current troops as they tried to hold the horde of tribals from breaching the border and raiding the local villages.

Support from House D’treal
As more and more reinforcements arrive on each side of the escalation, the banners of House D’treal are seen from the West, bringing more support for the defending troops. While the majority of their number arrive clad in finest armour with the symbol of a dragon on them, Kurten is seen lagging behind his commanders, tending to the wounded and helping as many as he can on his way to the battle field. Once Kurten had arrived and made post he was quick to establish his command over the local troops. He ordered his soldiers to plug the right flank, which had suffered great losses over the course of the night.

The guard form up plugging the flank with Kurten just behind the front rank, sceptre in hand, issuing orders to push forward and regain the lost ground. The newly formed shield wall pushed forward, despite the weight of the tribals, smashing into them like a great pounding wave hitting a sea wall. Kurten pushed forward, ready to show the full strength of the imperial might. Then his voice rose above all, ringing out across the right flank, words so familiar to all mercenaries; the touch of death prayer. With his raised arms high, his power was unleashed and those tribals that were trying to break the shield wall immediately fell to the ground the life gone from them. All behind them immediately turned and ran back to the fortified lines of the now broken farmstead where the tribes were holding firm.

The Warhaft arrives

News had quickly spread of the fighting down at Rivers Find, it was the chance the tribals had needed. Now was the time to keep what was theirs and show that the tribes within the broken lands were not just a problem for mercenaries to deal with, their lands not just some imperial training grounds.
Suddenly a large shout went up and the horns blown with excitement. The Warhaft Izrok had arrived to join the fight. As news of his presence spread through out across the lines a renewed ferocity was seen in the tribes, pushing the Imperial Centre clearly off and away from the ruined farmstead that now more closely resembled barricades and hastily put together fortifications.
As he arrived at the tribal command tents he immediately took change of this great host of tribes ready to defend their land. His orders were simple “We have regained what is rightfully ours and they have seen our strength. Stand your ground don’t let any breach our lines, we will not chase them down but they will not step across our borders again.” A large orc stood up towering over Izrok and told him quite simply to piss off; he wanted blood and vengeance and now was the chance. The last thing that orc saw was an axe burying itself between his eyes as his blood flowed down his face. “I am the Warhaft and those are my orders. Hold and don’t let the invaders past.”

A brief pause
Now with commanders in the field and order brought to the two sides new lines were formed. The Tribes in their make shift fortifications and the Imperials forming a long shield wall with spear and archers taking up the ranks behind.

A rare sight on horseback; a messenger dressed in the familiar regalia of the 101st, she rode up to Kurten’s command tent and passed him a letter. Immediately calls to pull the troops back were heard and with great discipline, as though this action was one that had been practiced a hundred times, they made a slow and steady retreat moving back but leaving no gaps.

In the distance a sound was heard almost like thunder clapping, were there storms coming, or was it something else? As the sound got closer an ear piecing shriek split across the skies. Looking up a great dragon was overhead, a lone rider on its back dressed again in the regalia of the 101st, the ever prominent imperial fist clearly seen from the banner of the 101st attached to the saddle.

As the dragon swooped down over the ramshackle fortifications of Rivers Find a visible glow starting in its chest and then suddenly its jaws opened and a torrent of fire spurted out down onto the tribes below manning their fortifications. The Dragons fire burned bright and true incinerating many of the tribal warriors below and destroying the fortifications. Those not immediately killed by the dragons fire ran, those who had been caught but not overwhelmed hoping to reach the river before it was too late, to extinguish the flames melting them alive. It was a sudden and mighty show of imperial strength the tribes limping back now from the death and destruction of dragons fire trying to reform and decide their next move.

Mopping up and moving in
It was a good few hours before the dragon fire finally faded, small skirmishes were still happening on the outer edges of the battlefield, but the ferocity of the earlier fighting had died down. The Imperial troops now refreshed and ready to move back onto the now scorched earth.

Dave Stone, Baron of the Dragons Gate, spent time talking to the soldiers and aiding them where he could; many thanking him for his impressive display of the Empress’ will and power. After a short discussion with Kurten D’treal, Dave approached his dragon while gently stretching his hand out touching the beast upon her snout in gratitude while letting her know that it was time to leave. In acknowledgement the dragon bowed her head and allowed Dave to climb onto her back. The downforce from a single great flap of her wings threw debris from the battle flying into the air and over the nearby soldiers, who were amazed at seeing the might of the 101st. The mighty dragon rose high into the sky letting out a mighty roar as she sped off towards the coast.

Once again the helds of spears were formed and they marched back toward the burnt husk of a farmstead, taking up their positions and starting to build defensive structures in preparation for a potential attack in retaliation from the tribes.

Something moves in the Night
As the day moved to night and the last of the dragon fire had gone, small fires were seen being lit at both sides of the conflict. It was an uneasy night with reports of the smaller skirmishes happening along the lines, both sides looking for a weakness in the opposition.
But there was something else there, it crept in like a mist around the ankles of both sides; a creeping sticky mist, slightly sickly to the taste. The Spears of the Empire presumed this as just one of the many strange things that happen near the broken lands.
As dawn broke, the mist had dissipated and soon it was discovered that there were no bodies. The dead had gone, not a single corpse left on the battle field.

The Frontline take and hold
In the morning light just as the dawn was breaking the horns of battle from the tribes were heard ever growing louder, the beating of war drums steady in their accompanying crescendo. From behind the tribal lines the banners of the Frontline and Tarek were seen forming up and taking the centre of the battle line.
Izrok lead the charge supported by Tarek, smashing straight into the imperial centre and pushing them firmly back from the quickly fortified positions. The tribes continued to smash into the Imperial lines. The Frontline, taking an active part in the fighting were trying as far as possible in the fray to avoid killing imperial troops, which would have been a great deal easier if there weren’t a bunch of goblins roaming, daggers drawn, stabbing and looting. Rumours are that it was Shank and a bunch of goblins going round doing this, and as reports widely suggest that they kept throwing mud at each other, it is most likely the case.
The Imperial lines now shaken moved back reforming the shield walls and waiting, tired from theirt night of standing watch and ever worried at the mounting losses.
Now at the wasteland of the farmstead The Frontline were busily forming a new line. Not a battle line, but one stood between the two sides, asking the tribes to move back and hold and the same of the Empire.

The Dwarves arrive
As dusk fell over Al-macsar the queen could be heard shouting!
“Assemble the War Council, this is ridiculous! Why are they fighting?” The Council lasts till the early hours, mainly with the Queen Gerehax unhappy over being advised that she just couldn’t axe something in the face. Still, it was decided that the Dwarves would not stand back and allow the innocents to get in the way, so they would send support.
Fin D Earth was summoned to prepare the rituals of the world tree so the troops could be mobilised.
Much activity was then seen through out the night; shields shined, axes sharpened and more importantly supplies and aid gathered for those suffering from the conflict. It was during the night that Gavalar and a contingent of Earth Sunder dwarves arrived at the gates asking to speak with the queen.
They were granted an audience with the queen, they shared a few words. Queen Gerehax was hostile at first but at the mention of the name of an old friend, dropped almost in reference, her mood switched and it was quickly agreed that they would march together to go and help where they could in the Broken lands.
After a hearty dwarven breakfast the Tree was ready, and the dwarven legion from Al-macsar with support from Dagda, Balegar ,Bheldar and Gavlar as well as the dwarves of the Earth Sunder clan started their journey and stepped through.

From behind the imperial lines the dwarves appeared, from the World Tree itself. Shining armour and the ancient banners of Al-Macsar held high. They were expected by Kurten, and upon their approached the front lines parted for them. The Dwarves were there for one reason; to evacuate the wounded and innocants from the surrounding villages, both tribes and Imperials alike.

As the dwarves reached the front line, Tarek approached the Queen. After a short conversation he ordered his troops to part so that they could carry on and help where it was needed while there was a pause in the battle.
It was here that the dwarves split in two; the Earth Sunder with their banners of a hammer over a mountain went to the East while to the West the banners of Al-Macsar with three gold lions sparking in the morning light.
It was a good few hours later when they met up again with refugees in tow. They had cleared all of the local villages of both tribal and imperial peoples, and they started to make their way to the Silver Rock outpost.

The 13th Legion arrives
From the Heartlands messengers of the 13th legion were seen hurrying around, news of the conflict down in Rivers Find had found its way here. The messenger from the 101st had ridden through the night to bring a note to Milly, Heartwarden of the Empire. She rode into a fort in the south of Halgar, immediately dismounted and ran towards the large doors to the main keep. The guards opening the doors for the the rider, who ran in straight to Milly, handing her a dispatch. Milly immediately broke the seal, and read looking increasingly troubled.
Milly took one moment for herself, took a deep breath and then started issuing her orders. She would send the main bulk of the 13th legion to reinforce the Northern edge of the Broken Lands setting up camp at the border. The rest of the legion (who were currently on leave or in non combat roles) would be given the option to volunteer to support the imperial troops down south.
With practiced efficiency the main troops started moving south, they had prepared for this; a quick response into an unknown fight. Milly spilt the volunteers into two groups; anyone with the capacity to heal, and trackers and scouts. The healers were to be teleported to Silver Rock Outpost and the scouts sent down to the lines to help shore up the supply lines which were being set up between Griffin beach and Rivers Find.

Silver Ridge Outpost
All morning carts and wagons had been arriving clad in the regalia of the Managa Haven Trading Company. Leading the wagon train was a High Elf, Vardasian. His purpose, and that of the dwarves accompanying him, being to bring supplies and setup a makeshift camp ready to receive the displaced refugees from the surrounding farms and villages of Rivers Find. Those dwarves providing protection to the wagon train were from the Earthsunder clan, with Grafken Ironfist, Sybil and a small group of heavily armoured Dwarves acting as security.
Next to arrive was the Heartwarden Milly of the 13th legion, teleported in with her volunteers. They wasted no time; immediately setting themselves to the task of unloading the wagon train and setting up the tents and triage station for the expected incoming casualties. Meanwhile the Silver Ridge tribe were busily gathering as many potion bottles as possible, filling them up from the ancient sacred healing springs and then distributing these to the many triage stations being setup by Vardisian, the 13th legion and the Earthsunder clan.
Goblin mayhem, was it Baiter or Squirm?
At the outer edges of the lines a small horde of goblins had been seen attempting to disrupt the flanks, looking for lone scouts and soldiers that had broken off from the main front. One Goblin with a large bat was gathering bodies together and assembling them using stakes, brambles, and anything he could find to make himself a throne of corpses, in mockery of the dead.
Various undead were now appearing from the goblin group as they moved further into imperial territory, looking to make hit and run attempts wherever they found the advantage, as we know goblins don’t fight unless they can win.

Silver sage enters the field
Even though the Frontline now held the farm skirmishes were still happening. Where these had just started out around the farmstead, trouble was now moving out further. Groups of tribals and imperials looking for vengeance for their fallen, demanding that the other side give back the bodies of the dead. These small engagements were getting bloodier and the front was now becoming wider with swelling of numbers in the main encampments as more and more travelled to support their side.
It was then that an old Orc arrived on the field. Standing alone, his silver robes flowing in the gentle breeze he immediately walked toward the Frontline that were standing at the shattered farmstead. He was calm and precise in his words, being very clear on his view on violence while retelling his story of how he was freed by House D’treal. His message was clear; the armies of the Empire would be coming to take this land back and if they were to stay where they are then the fight will continue to escalate further and more blood, that should not be spilled, would be.
His words were heard by many standing in the farm fortifications, those of the tribes heard his story of betrayal and rebirth. They respectfully moved back away from farmstead, deeper into their camps in the broken lands and away from the front. Did the tribes really want more bloodshed?
The Sage invited all to come to Silver Ridge a place of peace and healing rest, and place of trade and prosperity open to all. Some would go there and some would prosper.

The KOTL and more arrive
Mordred Rest was a hive of activity. Darren rallying as many of his troops as possible, bringing most of the lords of the orders with him. Once all were assembled and banners unfurled, one of the Knight Warmages on hand, was tasked with transporting the group to the edge of the battlefield.
Once arrived they split into two groups; the main group heading to the centre and the other setting up tents and a staging camp for the knights, behind the imperial encampment. The larger group approached the now quiet battlefield, the Frontline were now on their own, and continued to hold the farm, still uneasy and expecting further attack while standing in the area disputed.
While Sirac, with assistance from Una, were casting havens and healing those that needed it, the main battle had now turned to small skirmishes of fanatical troops on either side of the conflict. These no longer waged as close to the farms but were now rolling engagements in the woodlands and along the river banks.
Within the trees a gaseous cloud seeping into the dank ground and spilling up again wherever the tribal warriors were to be found, waves of spiritual power then being unleashed upon the unsuspecting and unlucky figure, before the entity slunk back down into the forest floor leaving the corpses intact but tainted by the touch of death.

With the KOTL and the Frontline holding the farm, and the tribes moving back from the main battle lines; the field fell calm and silent. There was something almost like an uneasy peace across the battlefield, the faintest sounds of fighting now, off to the distant flanks.

The wounded arrive

Dwarves never enjoy marching, but today that didn’t matter. Many of them carrying stretchers and aiding the walking wounded. At Silver Ridge Milly had now taken control and on sight of the dwarves arriving, ordered all to help immediately. Tribals, imperials supported by Vardasian and the Earthsunder clan were quick to move the wounded into triage stations and start treating injured from the battlefield.
The displaced peons and tribal families were all being found places to rest, with warm beds and a hearty meal. There were as expected, a few issues between the casualties, they were from different sides after all - but the burly dwarves of Al-macsar were quick to put a stop to any hostilities before they escalated.
Once everything was settled the Queen had a quick chat with Vardasian and they then transported together back to the battlefield to see if they could help to find a peaceful final solution.

Izrok calls as stand down

Izrok looked out across the gathered forces of Primus, all unified amongst the scorched earth of the farmland. So much had happened in the last 48 hours. Had he even slept?

Coming to his decision, he stepped out from the lines and stood on the edges of the fields, and called out, hoping that those that heard him would pass his message on. Axe still firmly gripped in hand, furs still singed from dragon fire.

"Out of my great respect for my past allies and friends, to Tarek of the Seven Winds, to Theo of the Senate, to Sirac of the Gold Dragon, to Una of Tranquillity, to Darren of the Knights, the tribes will hold here. No Imperial force or tribe shall enter the disputed lands, save to enter these talks. Any of the tribes that do will answer to me. I expect the Imperial's to do the same."

He paused and looked around, met with a mixture of disappointment, still boiling anger, weariness and understanding.

"I trust in Tarek to keep both sides to this."

With that he turned and became lost in the ranks of the tribes, many of whom allowed themselves to sit down for awhile. Many others however remained on guard, suspicious of further betrayal.

Daggers in the Dark
As the night drew in the focus for most was now to hold the border whilst letting those who had come to attend peace talks, the chance to speak. Fires were lit through the camps and sentries posted, with the KOTL, Frontline and Shadow legion all now forming an orderly defence of the border region with more tents now erected in what some were calling ‘no man’s land’.

As the skies became darker reports were starting to come in of deaths of a couple of sentries. Throats slit, the bodies raised as undead and sent into a small camp of Spears. Alarms were shouted and panic started. At the cry of warning a man in dark robes stepped from the shadows and with a single strike the ghoul was destroyed, before anyone could thank him he was gone.

This seemed to be a recurring pattern across the night, a small group of goblins harassing the lines (some even getting through), reports of sour water causing a disease to those who drank it and food being spoiled and poisoned.
It was clear that not all followed the Warchief, and that this small band were attempting to cause havok throughout the imperial camp, striking when they found the advantage. As they struck and attacked the troops the shadow once more came out from nowhere, stepping out of the shadows and dispatching the goblins.

Further out across the surrounding forests small bands of Orcs, Goblins and other tribals who wanted to continue fighting, were attacking the sentries who had been posted in the woodland to ensure the flanks stayed safe and the camps given warning if things were to escalate again. It seemed as though they were testing the guards, seeing if they could find a weak spot, an easy victory. The fighting happened in short sharp bursts with neither side over committing and while fatalities were rare, as the sun rose more and more wounded arrived at the medic station wounded from these engagements.

Food for an army
As the morning progressed more and more people were being drawn to the area; a group of sea Alfar arrived in the tribes camp offering aid and help were they could. More Kotl arrived also, reporting into Darren and being set to work over the area.

Next to arrive from the North was a huge shaggy ogre, his furs had seen years of battering and he wore a wisened look from his years and years of mercenary work. He brought with him two large wagons of food, easily enough to feed an army! The wagons were being pulled by even bigger ogres that looked as though it were not unlikely that they had giant heritage somewhere in the not too distant ancestry. The lead ogre directed his wagons to the riverside and was instantly approached asking if he wanted help with the food relief. He let out a large laugh, theis food was not for relief but rather was just his snacks for the day in case he got hungry. The wagons were then unloaded with Pork Pye the ogre directing the setup of his banquet and comfy chair, so that he would be ready when the peace talks began.

Looting, clean up and Battlefield investigations
After any battle there are always looters and while this battle was being well policed it was still subject to people taking trinkets and bits of scorched earth as a memento of the battle. Some of the Spears from the empire, while on a bit of downtime, were investigating the river.

It was safe behind the lines and as they washed, one shouted out that he had found one of these gems that they were all discussing at barracks last night. This was probably the luckiest trooper ever; he kept finding more gold, silver and gems. When the rumours got back to camp of his amazing finds the trooper in question could not be found; it must just have been excited gossip and rumour after all.

Kurth was seen walking the battlefield, looking as though he felt something was wrong. He was asking those involved with the battle about the mist that had been seen to come about the bodies that then had totally disappeared. He was convinced more was going on here than it would seem.

There was also a group of druids. Some tribal, including a druid of the spider tribe, and some imperial. They were discussing the impact of the dragons fire on the land, was it going to be something which was easy to heal, is it just a natural part of the world? Nothing could be done until the talks were over but discussions were getting heated between them, still a sense of distrust from the recent battle.

Sha'grot was finally seen on the field, no one really knowing where he had been during the battle, though there were rumours of him coordinating troops from behind the lines and casting spells on the tribes to get them ready for battle, which seemed the most likely out of all the possibilities being heard. Next to him was a troll, keeping a real close eye on him, making sure no one came too close and keeping Sha out of danger. Sha crossed through the edge of the tribal camp and headed towards the peace talks in the centre of the field.

The 101st Arrive at Rivers Edge

Across the bastion and barracks across the heartland , leave was cancelled and all troops recalled. The 101st were to be deployed to Rivers find the Empress clear in her orders while she wants peace in her land she will not have that land taken.

There was a wave of activity through out the barracks , civilian contractors being summoned and old plans being requested from storage. A new heavily fortified outpost was going to made at Rivers find so that this sort of incident did not happened again. Requisition orders were made and stone and other fittings were ordered. The Ritualists of the 101st preparing for the mass transportation rituals to be cast to immediately move to the area of Rivers find.

As normal a small forward team arrived at the scene scouts being sent out and the advanced ritual team setting up the ritual circles where the troops would soon follow and then the following supplies and materials would also come through.

As the ritual circles flared with power out came the troops in 4 at a time marching formation until the area was filled with two columns of 101st legionaries. As practiced they marched to the border and formed a shield wall with there shields the size of towers with anchoring spikes on the bottom. As the commanding officer barked his commands every 5th man then steaked a flag into the ground.
The Second Coolum of troops then moved to the talks themselves , forming a large circle around the tent and talk, quickly moving on the troops from KOTL, Shadowlegion and the Frontline. All that were remained were those there for the talks and the troops were being sent home from the guilds to avoid conflict with a well disciplined legion.

Following in the next wave of troops were surveyors and carts with mapping tools and building supplies, these continued to arrive all afternoon until what appeared enough stone for a fort to be built. The teams of engineers and surveyors had quickly laid out where the foundations were going to be. A large fort to garrison 100 Soldiers along with support staff , a large central keep with a watchtower being able to see far across the broken lands, reinforced walls large enough for siege equipment or men to stand 5 a breast , then a elaborate gate system with twists and turns with all sorts of manner of defensive weaponry to slow any attackers down that would potentially breach the gates from the broken lands side. Within the large court yard enough room for a dragon to land if required and where the forges, leather works and support staff would be. The name of this fortress would Dragons Watch. Full construction would not start until the talks were over and it would take a few months to build a fortress of this size but for the time it would help rebuild the area and reinforce the imperial border on the southern edge of the Broken lands .
