So as I understand it I get one path class that I can take to 8th via a points app. As a spiritless elf that has no intention of getting a spirit this seems rather redundant. That said I will undoubtedly need to able to do mantic damage at some point.
So really what can I use my path class for? Can I get the ability to cast my spells mantically and can I get some kind of access to total heals that so many others have using this points app? Any other ideas are welcome just don't want to waste it. -------------------- "A soldier's first battlefield is always his own mind"

Access to healing is possible with some justification - it's unlikely to be the miracle total heal but you could probably get powermaster self heals but it's more likely to be via a multi-race than a path. Otherwise I suppose you could put in some sort of non-standard path into the neuronic bracket. |

Standardly, you could go mancer without having a spirit.
It would get you mantic damage that can't hurt spirit only things, but more excitingly as an elven mancer you'd be able to cast mana form mantically. I wonder if it's possible to get something like this (but it would presumably need a load more specifics and complications): Mancer levels 7-8 7: 2nd colour: healing May not have another 2nd colour As a mancer, mana and spirits are all the same to me. I may cast handbook healing tree miracles up to 4th level as mantic spells, costing 2 times their spirit cost in mantic mana. 8: I can now cast up to 8th the the cost is now 1.5 times. |

I'd suggest published mancer multiclass for mantics.
Then second colour Jade / MR Jade Elf for healing. Dave |

Path slots are brilliant to "trade in" for other things. I just used mine to get a ritualist class (which lets me cast more or less anything published), while I was previously considering it to make wayfinder prayers all power bases (need to come up with a new way to do that, actually...). You dont need to get stuck in a box thinking of how to use the slot, come up with something fun around it. You could use it for mantic damage if you wanted, but equally you could probably throw a few innates in somethng somewhere and have yourself covered for a full path, without all the losses if that''s all you want. I dont know much about the character so dont have any great ideas for options for you, Im afraid!

It's worth remembering as a spiritless creature you can't inflict the spiritual side of the mantic damage.

So can you use up your path slot even if you can't path?

Obviously, the use you get out of this is relative to the disbenefit gained. If you're a bracket locked warrior losing your path slot if going to be less important than if you're a wizard or priest.

So would "may never path but can now parry pure magic and spirit as if they had a physical component" be feasible for say a Monk?
