QUOTE
The sullen peace of the Baronies was broken by the passage of a group of mercenaries through a variety of Waldgrafines at the beginning of Februar. The group included a strange mix of two travellers from far-off Ishma, a pair of fey bailiffs from beyond the mists, a dark priest called Orlando, a tax accountant by the name of Gideon and Marcus, a rough northerner with a book of white magic. They were met by Nathaniel nav Findias, and all benefited from the worthy and sage advice provided by Silas, Viktor and Lana of the Circle.

The dark-souled vulture-men atop a mountain at the south of the Brandins were overcome so that an egg of a silver roc could be obtained, and then an important root nurtured from the ground by a druid from Ishma.

These important ritual components were taken to the heart of a band of hedge. Through stealth and guile, the hedge managed to slay the priest Orlando. Their wardings, tricks and traps were overcome through the wise advice of the Circle, and Gideon’s box of scrolls, until Nat, the fey bailiffs and the Ishmaic contingent fell upon their werewolf leader and slew him. Viktor and Lana of the Circle ensured the group were dispersed with a rite, providing welcome relief from attacks on the local people.

The Baron of Takalia asked the group to investigate a nearby village where a demonic baby had been born. To their surprise, the group was joined by a dark and brooding figure with the scent of evil spirits and sharp weapons. A close eye was kept on him for the rest of the day.

The village had been tainted by the Hagarath, and people dominated by the leader of the local sect. The brave group battled their way through powerful wardings and undead guardians until finally, battered bruised and exhausted, they faced the witch who led them. Unable to harm her, protected by curses and a phylactery, Lana of the Circle brought her low with spirits and bound her in a death-like sleep.

The creature was returned to the Circle and dealt with, freeing all those who had suffered under the Hagarath’s ploys. A great day for the Baron of Takalia, showing once again that mercenaries can in but a day solve problems that seem impossible.

Baron Nathaniel Nav Findias

Rumours attached to this report begin to spread.

Over the mountain peaks of Wallastovia an agitated Silver feathered bird of prey later confirmed to be the rare Silver Roc, was sighted flying in circles making a distressed squawking sound. A reporter of the Primal Times (a revered bird watcher) commented "I believe the Roc must have been attacked somehow. It usually keeps out of sight and likes to hunt at night. This particular place is a sanctuary to birds and protected by an old man druid called the "Birdman" (probably a Hedge). It is one of my top 3 places to enjoy a day or two of bird spotting."

Elsewhere...

The small settlement of Zwei Spitzen was reported to have been suffering from demonic activity. The Circle was soon on the case with a group of northern mercenaries, with a serf of the village reporting a heated conversation between a Circle member and a northern mercenary that ended in the Circle member shouting "If you have any more doughnuts you'll end up a Demon yourself you fat bastard!"

It was revealed that the settlement was infiltrated by a Hagarath witch that had mastered the Baker who was commanded to lace the food he made with a witch's brew that would slowly turn any who ate it into demons. Apparently over the last week two carts of flour was sent to the local city of Takalia. Rumours spread that it would be advisable not to dine in the baronies for a month or two...
