just read on bruce's ap post that advanced grimoire spells innates just won't get passed, is that the way it is?

I was going to try with the caveat that pick one advanced spell to buy innates of and then not be able to buy any other innates at all (glyph innates)

is that likely to get passed do you think?

thanks
Rich

Bruce's post was re a UC so was about Words from Above Miracles not advanced Glyth innates, although you cannot get them standardly depending on what you are and how you phrase the points app I think it is more than doable.

It is also possible for Pals, GK and UC to get words from above miracles but it would likely put them in the priest bracket.

It is indeed possible to gain innates of Grimoire spells via points apps. Different classes, races and similar will find their own justifications and the costs will vary a little with limitations either self imposed or added by the GSM.

1st Class Wizards & Warlocks then racially magical creatures such as Elves and Faeries would be the easiest to achieve this with.

I haven't actually applied for anything like this under the current GSM but have a number of different ways for different characters under previous ones.

I expect it would be easiest to get them at the end of a multiclass based on being good at a particular colour, in the same way the priestly specializing multiclasses (wound bringer, spiritual healer, undead master and life's avenger) can buy innates of their advanced miracles.

As a rough bit of help, i had a M/R for Shyft that was written very porrly (as youd expect form me). MCC very very kindly rewrote into something a) more useful and cool.gif quite pricey. He put in it that i gained X amount of mana worth of innates from ANY black spell that i knew...

Hope that helps.

I think the things to ask are:

a. What base class/race
b. What glyphs
c. What justification for having them
d. Is the number you can buy capped.

e.g. Because I am a Lightning Elf (non standard multirace) Lightning Wizard (high wizard who can only cast blue), post 6th level of my multirace I can buy innates of grimoire lightning based glyphs, but can buy a max of 1 Stormcaller per 3 tables achieved...

... ought to be entirely reasonable.

Whereas:
Because I am a human warrior m/classed 6th level brown wizard I can buy innate rockskins...

... is liable to be met with some sort of "NO not focussed enough on brown mana" type reply.

good things to use as a basis are probably
- having it as a racial ability
- being a 1st class mana user who can cast it already, and is specialised in that colour
- the spell/spells in question not being on everyone's 'top 10 hardest non-handbook spells in the system' list.

Also, I wouldn't count "can't buy innates of other spells" as much of a restriction myself, because the points cost of innate spells is such that almost any amount of free mana you can get in a multiclass/tables ability is more valuable - far fewer wizards buy innates than priests do for this reason.
