Is there a way to stop this. I realise that all they need to do is create a login but is there anything we can do to make it less appealing to raid our site.
Such as post delay for the first x posts so we can see its spam. Log email address from spammers and block any more incoming from them. Spam bomb their ass! And give them a taste of their own medicine! I know it's not the biggest problem in the world but many of their links will contain malware ect. Which none of us need. Rant over, thanks for listening -------------------- Wayne

Yeah this morning is a example where I have only just got to my PC so people see the spam, there is nothing really that can be done as the spammers get clever and then do it different ways.
On any normal day I normally delete 5-10 accounts , its good exercise as DT2 Says! Sam |

Is it a good idea to enable some kind of verification before the account gets created? Or would that just slow down the process Basically it's a Admin task either if I verify ever account or delete the posts and users when they appear. So by letting them post up means that when we have actually new users they can post rather then waiting to be verified. Also it can be hard as people have weird forum names and I have seen a few that I was expecting to be a spammer but actually wasn't |

Sorry I seem to have been taken out of context. I'm not belittling the fine work that Sam dose. In fact I applaud it. What I was asking is if there is more we. The community on here could do? How many of us are on here at all hours of the day. Is there a way to quickly report what we see to give a heads up or possibly help with the clean up?

Might be worth looking into that? Although not sure how easy that will be with the forum/website integration. Chris |

Chris Yeah its a good idea , but it would require a change in the sign up process that would probably cost a decent amount of cash. But then if you want to spam then there are tools that get round Captcha ! I think the reason is that we have a good PR and are a trusted site in the eyes of google so the forum is a great target to get a solid backlink for SEO from. |

Why don't we just require people registering to the site to be approved before they can post, or similar? I assume there is some decent captcha tech in place on account creation?
