I notice that in the (not so) new books, Sorcerers no longer have the option of choosing utilise shield as a specialist (as they used to).
Is that an accidental omission, or do they now gain utilise shield as per warlock? Chris It's an omission. You can still take it as a specialist. Lee |

Hi,
Can a Evil Druid standardly use a Blessing of the City spirit evocation that grants the ability to become goodly and take a true believer innate to a goodly god? Using the innate and then either dropping the evocation or casting the Blessing again to align to a city where there was no alignment change option or requirement. Would there be any ramifications if the druid in question was also a Spirit Warrior and member of an evilly aligned church? I understand that there would be limitation in alignment of miracles, scrolls, and items that could be used but would there be other issues with the Church itself, or would this be on High Priest by High priest basis? Thanks Carl Yes you can cast the evocation to become goodly etc. For the spirit warrior part it becomes trickier. You stop being the right alignment for your church which means you lose your miracle list etc. If you have a vindictive high priest then they might think choosing to become goodly is an offensive meaning you should be excommunicated. So you probably want to avoid it. Lee -------------------- Cathbad Dannan - Arch Druid / Spirit Warrior

A quickie:
Am I right in thinking AOF can be used to resist attacks requiring abilities not available to the character. EG Bob the warrior is hit with an effect requiring Fortified spirit to resist it. Warriors can't standardly buy fortified spirit, so Bob could use one of his AOF innates to resist it. CHris You are correct about Act of Faith. However Warrior can get fortified spirit standardly on the tables. A better example would be Non-Handbook Curses for a warrior. Lee |

Can Calibrim benefit from all of the seven winds? Or do their paralysis innates against magical creatures stop this?
They are magical innates. I can see simple apps to get the winds though. Lee -------------------- Peter Smith

If a character becomes immune to physical damage (not effects) then are they also immune to physical healing such as potions, bandaging and Earth Power evocations?
All the published ways of doing this mean you are. Lee -------------------- Peter Smith

At which level of Vessel of the Dragons do you become unaffected/lesser effected by goodly spiritual healing?
Thanks ![]() lvl 1 starts reducing the effect, then you become immune at Lvl 4 (I think it is as don't have the books with me) Lee -------------------- QUOTE(Jack) Only the good die young. When choosing whether or not to take a dying effect with the standard tables resistance are you aware of what the effect will do or do you have to choose blindly?
you get told it, then can decide. You can't spend time working it out or anything like that. But it does give detail so "dying effect X" "What is X" "it's this" "Ok I'll call over" is ok. The obvious example is death traumer, what, 10 pens, I'll take it. Lee -------------------- Peter Smith

Couple of questions about half athanal
1)can they be druids now with the new rules allowing half elf? No 2)Does a 1/2 athanal who shuns thier heritage gain a clan as per human No, humans still don't like them 3)It says the progress as ishmiac humans, does this include the extra level of life that ismiac humans gain? No, it's just the buy as 4) can they still buy full elf innates? yes, and other relevant half elf stuff Thanks Graham Lee |

Question regarding pathing from priest to something else.
Assuming you are neutral when pathing as a priest do you need to choose either the goodly or evil path or can you just retain your normal use of miracles such as talk to spirit? You only keep Neutral, so lose Good and Evil Can you path spiritual mancer and then multi class wizard having a mantic pool of spirits and a separate normal pool of mana along with specialists glyphs? Yes If you are say a priest of the runes and a spiritual mancer do you automatically gain mantic versions of the priest of the runes abilities or do you need to pay an additional cost/pointsapp? No, you need to buy spiritual devotee (I think the name is) to let you cast published miracles mantically from handbook. Lastly just to clarify when you path you lose the ability to cast non alignment miracles even non mantically? Correct Lee -------------------- "A soldier's first battlefield is always his own mind"

Hi Lee,
if i cast svelts baffling aura can I continue to use a spiritual metal weapon? does it make a difference if I have imm to aura of defence? thanks Richard It is as written. So Caster no metal, and immunity to aura of defence doesn't help. It's the downside of the spell. Lee |

What effect does the 3rd level of Winter Elf Innates have on someone with a spirit? Do they grant complete immunity to cold? Or just complete immunity to non-spiritual cold? I have heard both answers from different people.
Depends on how its got, but probably makes them immune to cold. Lee -------------------- Peter Smith

Abilities available to those ‘except X’
Is it possible to buy an ability through normal means, and then become an X at a later date because at the time of purchasing it was not a valid restriction? Or is there an (un)written rule that the ability is lost? Eg - a half athfanel is not inherently a ‘mana user’. They buy T8 ‘the third wind’ to gain 1/2 damage from all purely magic attacks’ and then after that buy “full elf innates” or perhaps MR Full Elf? Dave depends on X. So All bar wizard. You just need to buy as not a wizard. The winds are different. It is a restriction of the ability rather than the buy as requirement really. Lee |

Can a priest in spirit form apply a damage reduction based on the weapon having a physical component to a spirit mace on account of having Physical presence.
Can the same priest also apply a damage reduction versus solely spiritual damage to the same weapon on account of being immune to Physical damage. I am assuming he can only apply one - but I'm not sure which one it is... but it could easily also be both (my brain hurts)... You are only effected by spirit, so the physical component is irrelevant UNLESS the reduction is clearly based on being in a spirit form. So "While in spirit form I get 1/2 effect any weapon with a physical component" works, otherwise its unlikely to since you are only worried about the spirit world. It is also, mostly, the world of points apps so depend son their wording. Lee |
