So if people are driven beyond the point of redemption and they are trying to kill those I am travelling with. What do I do? Tamara Dear Tamara You do whatever you feel is right in those circumstances and according to your own heart. As you may be aware, the last 2 of the 4 key Church Tenents are: • Do not harm a living thing unless to defend another • Do not take a life without first doing anything else in your power to prevent such happening There are some among the faith that believe the slaying of a life is never justified under any circumstances; the act of slaying a living being in itself, no matter the reason, is abhorrent. There are others who believe that there is such a thing as 'the greater good'; if everything else in their power has been done to prevent the slaying of a living being, then taking the life of one who wishes to harm others can on balance mean more good is done than evil. My personal belief is that should be no place for others to tell people what they should or should not do. There are some practises that our incompatible with the Church’s guiding beliefs, and indeed certain actions that may lead to excommunication, but those mortals who have free will must act according to their own conscience in this general scenario that you have described. Now, if you are interested in what I would do myself in a certain situation, given the time it may take I am more than happy to discuss this over an Abbot’s ale. What do you mean by 'beyond redemption'? I'm not convinced such a thing is possible or, if it is, that it is relevant. Life is sacred, or it is not. That doesn't change because the creature in question is unpleasant.
Sir Garath Vaine -------------------- No of course I won't ref. Are you mad?

Whilst I avoid killing where possible sometimes there are no other options that remain. If one is taking the life of another against their will I will attack in order to defend the sanctity of life.
...but then again I am a wretched man so you had probably best not heed my opinions. Wretch |

They were people who had been experimented on and turned into raging cannibals by potions and scrying said the only thing to do with them was to kill them to give them peace.
That felt wrong so I parried and kept trying to talk to them but it didn't work. Tarmara -------------------- Fi

There is almost always another way. In general, scrying will give you the most direct route to resolution - this will not always be the path that best preserves life. In fact, in my experience, it tends to be the opposite. Where the difficulty comes is in giving yourself time to find those other options. It is hard, when people around you are threatened, to reach for things other than weapons.
You could learn the Voice of Power miracle, which I would be happy to teach you. It does not always work but quite often it gives you the time and space needed to discover an alternative solution to situations like this. There are other miracles that would help you in that vein as well. Remember that there is very little - nothing, I would even go so far as to say - about the path of mercy and life that is easy. It is normal to stumble from it, and it is normal to need guidance. All that matters is that you continue to try, even when travelling in a world that seems stacked against your faith.
