Murders in City of Shadows: Linked?
The city of Deci has lived up to its shadowy reputation this month following a series of murders within the city's walls. Though originally presumed to be unrelated, the Sleek have recently uncovered evidence suggesting that this may not be the case. Rumours abound as to whether this is linked to the recent arrest of the merchant house known as the Slurry Shippers, whose agents had been spotted near the warehouse of one of the victims. Vigil for Prior Jovine Candles have been placed at the Hallowed Temple of the Hag in Hightown to commemorate the life of Jovine Delvor, Prior of the faith. Prior Delvor died when a rear chamber of the Hallowed Temple collapsed, killing him and an unidentified half-elf woman. Eyewitness reports from the incident vary; some saying that the Prior entered the rear chamber of the temple with the woman for a private meeting, others that the woman was accompanied by a large group of armed men. The incident is being investigated by the Sleek in conjunction with the series of murders within the city, and the council has pledged to rebuild the collapsed section of the temple. Nirrain Family: Demonic Colluders? Screams echoed through Hightown recently as the heretofore well thought of Nirrain family unleashed a rampaging war demon on the unsuspecting quarter. The demon took the couple's bodyguards as its victims before beginning to carve a path through the city streets. It is only through the bravery of the family's entrance guards that the demon was contained; the Sleek have commended them for their efforts and cleared them of all involvement with the mess. Cheapside Brokers Mourn Lost Agent Following the violent murder of one of their merchants by an unknown, illegally hired group of mercenaries, the Cheapside Brokers have made a public statement denouncing whoever is responsible for the destruction of property and loss of life. Whispers among the houses claim that the Slurry Shippers were behind this uncouth attack, as the mercenaries were seen speaking to one of the Shippers' agents outside the victim's warehouse before entering. The Brokers were unavailable for comment, but have been seen in meetings with the council discussing recompense for their losses, and are reportedly seeing an upswing in requests for trade contracts. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
