The days were depressing in Alkunhand. The sun never really came up unless you got far enough away from what was now imaginatively being called "The Ruined City". Even out of sight things were just a bit [----]. Taverns closing down and relocating outside the Waldgrafine perhaps the most depressing of all.
In the few that were left there was some cheer to be had though. Amongst the gloom and in the few taverns that remained, the tale of Fish, who stood boldly at the gates of the Ruined City in some form of final stand, holding back the forces of Ruin whilst others escaped, laughing and chopping as he did so, only pausing occasionally for a snack. Now, whether he was actually trying to let people escape, or just really enjoyed the ruck, or even a bit of both, it didn't matter. The story was still a good one. His body was never found they said, so it even had a bit of mystery just to add to the fun. They laughed a little while, but even that did not stay, and the patrons went back to staring at their rather weak ales, considering whether they too should just give up and move on. -------------------- Will Power - will@labyrinthe.co.uk
