As a few of you know I was thinking of trying to come up with a unique race, well thanks to a long night of thinking and a lot of advice I've come to this conclusion.
From Winter elf warrior to storm shepherd base race change. For all intents and purposes this being was formed out of air and is a cloud, must have white make-up restriction. Has health as per elven warrior. 1st: is now cloud must have make-up restriction. Gains immunity to physical and supernatural cold. 2nd: gains rust ranged, 1x3. 3rd: gains thunderbolt 1x3 4th: walk on air 1x3? 5th: thunderbolt innate. 6th: thunderbolt innate. post 6th: May buy gaseous form no verbal innate for 100p's? Just a thought for you know a cloud. Ok welp that's my entire plan, probably needs some adjusting. I'd really appreciate some feedback since every thought of mine towards this just makes it think it's overpowered. Brad |

As a base race change ? No it's overpowered.
As a multi-race? I guess but it's probably underpowered. It's also not that original imo as the concept itself seems a mistfolky. |

Almost forgot. Watercannons somewhere... like heavy concentrated rain, can't remember what I was going to do with that...

Very definatly not a base race change with all that. Look at what an elf gets, in terms of mana of handbook innates. Then, knock a chunk of that off because you are picking your own innates and work from there, probably avoiding advanced spells and trying to stick with one colour.

Peter Long Oh yeah, I lost my RoG so I couldn't be certain what they had. Erm that's going to be edited hugely I think when I've found it. |

Something to consider may be that there is an entierly standard way to effectively play a strange elf with your own choice of innates: Fairy.
Fairy characters have less life than Winter Elves, they can pick a single 2 MP spell to have at 1/4 levels, and a 3 MP spell to have at 1/4 levels. So, for example, you could pick Rust Range and Storm Blast. That would fit the general flavour of what you're outlining above, and not cost you any money or character points to achieve. Alternatively you could possibly think something along the lines of 1/2 Water elf, 1/2 air elf: Somehow combining the innates of both races, but having 1/2 the usual number of innates? Should lead to a character who feels "balanced" in terms of power level but give you something with an unusual twist to it. Or, maybe, try for Storm Elf - as Air Elf but has Shatter ® instead of Jump (s) and Storm Blast instead of Walk on Air (s). All you're doing there is replacing spells with other ones of exactly equal level so, in theory, that should be pretty straightforward. _ Pete |

One other point, immune physical is likely to be MR only and on T10 for a pure caster and T11 if not.
As such may take quite a while before you can even buy L1 so if you really want something like this put it at L6 so you can buy the rest first. Andrew |

Andrew I think he was referring to physical cold -------------------- |

As previously mentioned, Fairy looks like a good alternative, but will make for a pretty terrible Warrior.
If you are set on a base race change why not look at Alfar as a stating point? Perhaps losing the draw on EP but replacing that with the ability to buy Weather field innates? -------------------- Will Hudson
