I am sore, tired and my fingers seem to constantly want to grip a phantom sheild handle.

But thank you to sam and all the monsters. You really hurt me. It was awesome.

And the rest of the party too, you guys are alright I guess.

So I will be playing....

Either a big tough Calibrim (probably warrior), or maybe my illithid (psi drowe).

I am currently in dicussions with my DnD crew.

Looks like we will have 2 warrior types. Probably one pure priest (alignment as yet unknown). Maybe a forest guardian.

And the last not sure yet.

Hi Everyone!

So next Sunday (the 26th of May) there is a pre-8th dungeon going down. Using my charm I have got my DnD group to come down to try out the system.

They are super hyped!

It would be great if we could get a good crew together of monsters to, show them what's what! Maybe scare them a bit and kill me if you must.

I will bring cake.

Thank you so much for the recognition of our work.

I made many a wonderful friend forever that day and I even damned the soul of a werewolf for eternal torment.

Yours faithfully.

Greetings everyone!

It is I Hexacotal, humble priest of Xiabalba.

Do not worry I shall leave you wonderful people to your own musings after this message.

Firstly Ignatius I sense that you are perhaps plotting to murder me. I do admire your spirit! But if you are interested in becoming a follower of Xiabalba you are more than welcome to send me a message anytime. I will no doubt find a willing local to translate for me.

Dear Darren. I am sorry you are so angry, life is suffering and there is no need to let your emotions get the best of you and torment you further. However I would warn you against attempting to wrest the souls away from the lords of Xiabalba. Such a thing has never happened in the past and I am sure having their property stolen would enrage them, this would be bad for all peoples on this plane. If they were to ever ascend to the surface then the devastation they will cause will be total and they will steal the sun! I will would be giddy with all the destruction of course but regardless it is my job to appease them, keep them settled and happy in their domains.

Anyway I must go. It appears my preaching has got out of hand.

The locals of this charming little village have taken my words to heart and have built something called a stake. I believe they intend to burn a local thief alive on it. I have tried to explain to them that really the heart should be removed first but they are so enthusiastic! I just don't have it in my to stop them, they seem so excited.

Take care.

Greetings,

It is I Hexacotal a humble priest of Xiabalba. Word has reached me that members of the mercenary outfit I travelled with recently are telling tales about me to an organisation named as the “Knights of The Land”. The common folk here seem to hold this group in high regard so I thought I be an excellent platform to spread the word of the dread lords of Xiabalba and set right any untruths told about me.

I have hired a scribe to read to me these messages and to write my thoughts. Do not worry I like this man's competence so I shall not harm him. Though I will be asking the spirits if the words he writes are a true reflection of my own.

Firstly Freya, shame on you. Talking behind other's backs. I have spoken about this to the good people of this wonderful place known as a “tavern” and they have assured me that it is common knowledge that no one likes a snitch. I tend to agree, however you have done me a great favour making the land aware of the Xiabalba.

What she says is true! Though I shall clarify that I do not hold the title of “dread priest”, I could only wish to aspire to such greatness. Perhaps in time if I sacrifice enough souls to the dread lords they would bestow upon me such a cruel and hateful title.

She is correct I have taken two souls from our journey. I hacked the hearts from their corpses and consecrated them in the name of the lords of Xiabalba. They are most pleased with the soul of the mayor in particular. Werewolves are not native to our lands and thus he poses a unique challenge for our torturers. I would most appreciative for any help here.

I am glad my actions made you uncomfortable, for that is the correct response for any rational minded person. Knowing that Xiabalba is a very real place with very real suffering should concern all people.

So I shall use this as an opptunity to spread the world to one an all who read this message!

Citizens of this land, I bring good news!

Xiabalba is real. As are its dread lords. It is a place of blood and horror where the guilty and innocent alike suffer for all eternity under the cruel machinations of the lords and their minions. It is terrible and GLORIOUS!

But heed my warning citizens. If we do not feed the dread lords of Xiabalba fresh souls to torment, they shall anger. They shall stir in their thrones of blood and bone and ascend to the surface of Mourat where they shall devastate the land. They shall slaughter all and steal the sun from the sky!

Good news. You can prevent this! By cutting the hearts from your enemies and holding them aloft while uttering a terrible prayer to the lords of Xiabalba, you will not only sate their anger but also gain their favour. The favour of a awesome and monstrous pantheon of gods.

So I invite all who read this to join me in worship to the lords of Xiabalba. Do not worry they may be cruel but they are not petty. Even if you worship another, all they ask is that now and then you think of them and TEAR THE OUT HEART FROM YOUR DEFEATED FOES AND CONSECRATE IT IN THEIR NAME!

Thank you for you time one and all. I cannot wait to hear from you.

Hexacotal
Humble Preist of Xiabalba

Charis is a damn hero mate.

If he didn't put that nutter out of his misery this conversation would be all about how some mad bastard murdered a bunch of orcs.

It's the cycle of life innit.

-Get born be a happy child.
-Get possessed by a berserker spirit.
-Kill everyone every time a bar fight starts.
-Live in misery because of the horrible burden of guilt.
-Start attacking other mercenaries.
-Get put out of your misery, death is peaceful.
-Party tries to kill the person who just saved them.
-Party moves on and gets slaughter by undead that Charis could have dealt with blindfolded.
-I get paid.

There's an irony here somewhere.

Yours faithfully

The most honourable Plagueface Esq.

Hi!

So I belive I might be uniquely qualified to answer this question.

Su and Zu (that's Dave Fisher and I) were the first people to become fortunes after [----] went down on the first Snake Clan myths years and years back.

I know the codification of fortune as a status is somewhat different to how I origionally interpreted it but here's how I see them.

You're a mini god. A little god over a very specific aspect of the world and of course that aspect informs who you are.

Which means there are many fortunes everywhere, with lots of different outlooks and personailities. However it is their nature of sitting outside of the social order that gives them such leeway to act however they want. Some would be benign, others tricksters while others would be deeply malign and how they choose to manifest it was up to them.

I would say that the spirit of a stork delivering a child to a childless couple would equally be as much of a fortune as the snow maiden who ultimatly froze her lover to death. They can be generous , they can be fickle or deadly. The ability to hide themselves is part of what they are but not necissarly what they choose to be.

I hope that helps.

Ben

So it turns out the CC (Character Contracts?) are the new hot stuff.

From what I understand it's a way of adding a bit of roleplay flavour to your character as well as adding in character reasons for justifying various non-standards.

But how does one write them?

What can you gain out of it? I have heard the terms faith and renown thrown around?

Much love

Ben

After an extended time away I finally managed to make it down the caves last weekend and it was probably the best weekend I've had in the better part of the last half decade.

I am sure everyone knows by now I had to have a heart transplant a while back and while it was a pretty intense experience the nurses were hot and the painkillers were awesome.

Anyway it's finally at the point I am normal again, or something close to it and I feel incredible.

I know the whole community has been through alot recently with the passing of Jack Cotter, I am gutted I never got to see him again. However I wanted to say that I was reminded that despite all the plotting, backstabbing and points app's arms races that will always be a part of the caves this is a very special community. As someone told me on Saturday it doesn't matter who you are as long as you are here to get hit or to hit people with rubber swords you're one of us. No judgement. That's important because lets face it an awful lot of us are massive effing nerds and the muggles don't always get our eccentricities or obsessions!

When I came back on Saturday I was immediate greeted by old faces and new. It was like I hadn't even left at all. So from the bottom of my brand new freaking awesome heart (thank you Mr Donor) I love all you crazy mofos. I look forward to smiting many of you in the future and if you're lucky you might just get to smite me!

Ben Mottram

By the way. Wow the new buildings look amazing! Kudos for that.
