I had the honour to get to know Ignatius a little when he travelled with my Church and more recently with others in Shadowfell where Ignatius was lost to us.

What I will remember most about Ignatius was his ability to live his life holding true to his own principals and opinions even when many around him disagreed with him, and doing so wish such humility and tolerance of others.
He seemed to me to be a gentle, kind and honourable soul with a quiet deep resolve and will to do what was needed to do to keep his friends and innocents safe from harm.

I will miss him. If it is true that he will rest within the light of his Goddess then I am so happy for him, and know that his influence will live on with many of us.

Lord Winterhaven,

I am pleased to report that I am available to attend and hopefully assist. My building skills are almost as strong as my magical abilities, but I am sure I can carry things.

As many will know already, approximately 6 months ago I took a step back from my involvement with Labyrinthe in order to spend time with family and in to allow me to focus additional time and effort to my full-time work - I work with all the major banks on making them compliant with the various new financial regulations and also work with a number of global government departments on the impact of their various financial reforms, so it’s been a little busy for the last year or so and doesn't look likely to quieten down anytime soon!

The impact of stepping out of the week to week efforts with Labyrinthe have been dramatic - allowing me to expand my role significantly at work, spend time with Rachael helping to develop her new interests in leatherworking to the extent that it is now a full time role for her, and is hopefully culminating with a move back to the south coast nearer to both our families.

Because of this I have decided to make my stepping away from the running of Labyrinthe a permanent arrangement.

In order to minimise the impact of this change on the club as a whole (both in terms of financial impact and in terms of continuity), I have arranged for my shareholding in Labyrinthe to be retained by the remaining CMT and shareholders. I am sure that Phil and Jo will follow up with their views on what this change will mean for the club, but we have all made every effort to ensure any impact is kept to an absolute minimum.

It's been almost seven years since Phil, Duncan and I took on the task of running Labyrinthe.
We did so knowing absolutely that we were not going to make friends over it - in fact the absolute opposite turned out to be true.
We did so knowing full well that the decision made no sense from a financial perspective (the only financially rational decision at the time would have been to close!)
We did so knowing full well that it would be a significant commitment of time, money and effort (my back and legs have never forgiven me for carrying over 30 tonnes of sand and much more into a dark damp cave)

Looking back I am absolutely certain of a number of things:

* I have an amazingly patient, understanding and amazing wife - something I never forget to be thankful for.
* I (and the rest of the CMT) made mistakes along the way - we're merely human most of the time after all - but we put our time and effort behind each and every decision, and everyone was done for one reason only - improving the club even if/when others disagreed or felt otherwise
* Our time in the CMT has resulted in both Rachael and I losing friends and losing the passion for a hobby which once formed a very major part of our lives - we hope that one or indeed both of these can be rebuilt over time
* We only ever managed to implement about 10% of the ideas we originally had for Labyrinthe - many of those ideas were thrashed out over a holiday in Lanzarote with Phil and Jo before we took over Labyrinthe. I'm sad that I didn't manage to see some of the other 90% through, but hope that some of them may still come to fruition in the future
* We're proud of the 10% of things that we actually did manage to implement, and I am certain that the majority of those changes have resulted in the club still being around, active and vibrant.

* Many of the changes have never been overly apparent for most club members. The changes to the legal framework in which the club operates was a hot topic for many - that framework has been instrumental on a number of occasions in ensuring that the club still exists. The financial changes we brought about behind the scenes have been probably the most important in ensuring the future of Labyrinthe. There are a few club members that know the truly dire financial situation the club was in back in 2006 - taking on a financial debt greater than the market value of my house at the time was a cause for much loss of sleep. Laby may not be exactly rolling in cash - but it is financially independent and virtually debt free.

In short, many many people feel I/we made a number of bad decisions over the last seven years - and I won't disagree that there have been mistakes - but I remain proud of my involvement with Labyrinthe and hope the club continues to exist and grow in the future even if I am getting a little too old for wearing chainmail!

Although the potential house move will see us end up quite a distance from the caves both Rachael and I hope that once the move is done we can come back to play, monster (perhaps ref), and otherwise be involved in the future of this club as club members. We really do look forward to playing as club members alongside some old (ic and ooc) friends in the near future.

We wish Phil, Jo and Duncan all the best in continuing with the running of the club - it has been a joy and honour to have taken the journey with the three of you.

All the best.

Andy

[ref notes]

This is a potential cc fallout from the 3-day that Ed and I reffed over the last weekend, and I'm sure that the players will be able to provide a lot of in-character information on background and events that took place - most of which is already on this thread.

Whilst the barrel and its contents are shielded from scrying one of the many things the party did achieve was the breaking of the wardings around the organisation responsible (and killing the main antagonist as he fled towards his ship). As such whilst direct communications about the barrel would be pointless it is possible for some scrying to take place "around the edges".

Although this was the last reffing I was intending to do before taking an extended break, if there was interest in running an adventure to deal with the threat then I would possibly be up for running it - or perhaps Ed might if I can't. If not then its entirely possible for us to go over the details with a different referee for them to run it. (If there was interest in me running it then it would not be higher than a max 5250 as I don't ref over that threshold - could obviously be lower than that if wanted as well).

We will leave off submitting the cc input for a week or so to give an opportunity to see if there is interest in running this as a caves adventure.

In the meantime if any 3-day characters or characters with a direct link to Sellaville want to send comm questions then feel free to send them to me by PM - but note that the wards over the barrel and its contents are still in place.

In the spirit of cutting Jo some slack, and giving the option of "starting again from scratch", I'm going to lock this particular post and once Jo's ready to give it another go and post again with a fresh thread I'll delete this one.

Cheers,

QUOTE(TEM @ Jun 20 2012, 06:39 PM) *
- As Andy says, it's polite to ask before advertising on someone else's board. No different to asking if you can put up a poster in someone's shop window.

i had no clue . this is kind of a new world for me . larp forums e t c . i saw no different as strolling up to some social group , chatting making friends then , or before , saying " hey so you're into larp huh , well we're setting up this thing , would any of you be interested ? oh cool see you there " e t c

Its not a rule - just a fairly common social norm.
If I were promoting Bromley Fried Chicken I wouldn't generally figure it was acceptable to go into KFC and canvass support (at least not without asking first).
Other LRP groups have previously shown the good grace to ask first before posting, and we have quite happily said yes - without it being a rule displayed on the forums and written in full legalese.

Try e-mailing bookings@labyrinthe.co.uk (its on the contact us page) providing a short, concise and clear description of what you are looking to advertise on our forums and we'll look to get back to you as soon as we can.

Thanks,
Andrew

or perhaps even ask permission to promote a new system on another systems boards before posting??

(apologies if you have asked via e-mail - checked booking line and can't see any communication there)

highly depedant on the personal definition of the phrase "good management"
Mine is highly likely to differ from yours (but then neither of us are the GSM so it probably doesn't matter)

We've had a request to create an mid-week open J6 overland as a max 1500 at J6, which is now available for booking in the system.

We'll look to confirm the adventure by this time next week if there is sufficient interest (crewing and playing).
Unfortunately the caves won't be available to be opened on the day, but hopefully the weather will have improved by then wacko.gif

Just by way of a quick update...

Jo and Megan are both still in hospital, but doing ok (very bored/frustrated etc).

Rach and I are covering on admin, answering e-mails etc, and all the events for this coming weekend are still all confirmed.

There will obviously be a delay on non-urgent matters such as debrief processing/items/points appsother GSM related things etc, but we hope you can all be patient for the moment on those.
Admin on credits from the extended weekend last weekend have been done so that everyones balances should be correct etc.

Regards,
Andy

Whilst Jo and Megan are in hospital Rach and I are covering the booking line e-mails and we think we've caught up with everything that's been sent there over the last few days. We're in the process of actioning most of the data from last weekend, but would ask that people bear with us whilst we remind ourselves about how everything works.

For this weekend, in an effort to give everyone as much notice as possible we're reviewed the adventures for the weekend and can confirm that as long as there are no cancellations (players or monsters) then all booked adventures will be going ahead this weekend. We have updated each to confirmed and will reassess tomorrow just to make sure.

SATURDAY

Young players: confirmed with refs and players - still spaces available for more players and monsters, but will go ahead with current bookings
Pre-8th: confirmed with ref, a-ref and monster - could do with a few more players, but is confirmed with current bookings
No Max: moved to the caves at request of referee. confirmed with current players (two spaces still available), but has ref aref and monster. Is now a standard caves length adventure

SUNDAY
4-Day leadup: confirmed with ref, aref and 3 monsters.
No Max: moved to the caves at request of referee. confirmed with current players (two spaces still available), but has ref aref and monster). Is now a standard caves length adventure

Cheers,
Andy

Would a list help, or is it more a case of refs / a-refs needing to spend half an hour wandering through the armoury of a lunchtime?

Could they get say 5 monster points for doing so, max 1 / 6 months, as a small incentive?

Think of it as CPD...

Any refs and arefs are more than welcome to spend some time and take a look around the armoury (we've recently added shelves right by the door so refs can see bits and pieces without even needding to take a few steps into the armoury). It doesn't even cost anything to do so wink.gif

We have thought about doing list of props etc, and we can look at doing that. Only worry would be keeping it up to date with the new additions/breakages and "shrinkage"
