Dear Lee Can you clarify please If one person has a pure weapon and the other has an entirely physical one, can they parry each other? (Game logic vs it being rubbish to play out in practice) system logic says no, but let's just have cool fights. We can easily justify it if we think about it (I mean who in sort of real life can be battered with a sword 200 times). Shields and armour are different and don't work. As I have said many times. A little commen sense and letting the game work goes a long way. So using you example fighting bst sword to but sword is one thing, bst pure sword vs physical staff and sword is just no. Julian |

If you have an item of PAC or DAC, can you choose not to apply it if wardpacted? If no, what if you have enough AC from other sources to be in your max AC without it? Julian |

Chris is spot on here. Really excellent event. The crew are absolute heroes for keeping going through such miserable weather. You were also all fun to roleplay with and cool to fight Thank you all! Food was exactly what we needed to keep spirits up despite the cold and wet - thank you Fromum (and there in spirit Tim) Thank you to Huw and Paul for what was so obviously an epic level of writing effort - Plot and the setting were amazingly detailed, the sections and encounters varied and interested Thank you to Duncan and Edd for all the logistics, and apologies again to Duncan that you ended up stuck at the site so long |

Looks like I won't be there for this one after all. Unexpected family visit from someone we don't see often, so I need to book off. Looks like you still have plenty of folks and a nice party mix anyway Julian |

Given Sorcha was a creation of mine and Huw's for the Torsland myths I can add some comments here. On Voice of Power - they are probably fine with using it to knock people out or give people 'a taste of their own medicine' with a comedy command for those who use domination FX but would probably regard stuff like VOP 'kill your mates' or just leaving someone under one indefinitely as a dick move. Oddly I imagine they might see VOPing someone and then stabbing them on the ground or take their stuff then release it as way less of an issue than leaving them asleep forever. When they were created, chaotic neutral priests couldn't have goodly miracles on their last normally. If we were doing them again now I would definitely re-write their miracle list to include total heal. Some things that might give some flavour / guidance When the party went to the temple of Sorcha in the Torsland Dales, the prop setting included piles of weapons, empty bottles of booze and betting slips for 'scarecrow smackdown' in the main room. They are fearless champions of the oppressed that don't give a damn for social precedent and a society's rules, which sounds heroic - there's been a lot of friction with Amlas over the oppression of the lower classes for example BUT they aren't saints - the 'no one can tell you want to do' means they are equally likely to object to being told to "keep the noise down" / "eat healthier food" / "stop using problematic language" as they are to finding out someone is dealing in slaves. Admittedly they are less likely to apply a sword in those cases. |

It was a really good day. The Gobball plot was hilarious. Worked brilliantly because while the concept was comedy, everything was roleplayed with a completely straight face. Great work by Stevie Much thanks to Anthony, Tom and Will for providing both brilliant roleplay all day and for all fighting in cool ways all day. Definitely a lesson that how minimal healing really ups the challenge level Julian |

I want to also gently push back on the creating ghoul as justification for the status quo - while I agree that a ghoul can potentially clear an encounter (or party) - this is really an uncommon example, the same cant be said for the other undead miracles such a create zombie, skeleton, etc unless in very specific situations with a ingenious player. Tom I use ghouls to wipe out encounters all the time, as multiple characters. I wouldn't call it an uncommon example. Just about every undead has its use. Zombies have solved countless puzzles for me. Skeletal knights are highly effective, especially if backed up by a couple of disintegrates on the only mace in the monster kit bag, as are corpses. I used a barrow wight for an IC alarm clock once. Not to mention the number of sections that fall apart a the touch of a mantic wight. Playing an evil priest takes more thought than playing a goodly one, but they are no less effective. I wouldn't say the system is massively out of balance. Julian |

Likewise - thanks from me, was great fun, tough and innovative - super crew and a fun party which seemed strangely balanced (for us anyway) It really was oddly almost perfectly balanced - Rovfugr Cavalier Elf Warrior Warlock Green Wizard Thug Warrior Priest Samilla We had healing, a frontline, EP, spirits, mana, read languages, ability to disarm traps, some people with no spirit but a way to heal everyone |

I am 10090... so would need to be a 15k for me to make it. Guess I might be allowed to do 1 max 10k given I haven't yet bought a 10k gift, but that's in the hands of the referee Julian |

Recently the Angels of Purlain have been out and about on Primus, kicking off on anyone that crosses their paths. They are utterly deranged. Previously they'd bothered only those of us who follow The Lady of Stars - this used to be an internal dispute - that seems to have changed this year. I've crossed swords with them multiple times in the past and killed several - we of the church gave up attempts at diplomacy with them over a decade ago. Repeated encounters always led to them attacking one or more of us for being 'not white enough'. They care nothing for their own temporary destruction. I have never seen them allow anyone they had taken against to walk away in peace, let alone walk past. Prior meetings have often involved their unprovoked and unexplained assaults upon anyone they did not like the look of, which often included members of the faith. If I met any of them today I probably wouldn't waste any breath before drawing Lightbringer and getting down to it, by past experience there is no reasoning with them. Martin |
