Gunndrick, I have been having troubled dreams again.
I suggest our first point of reference should be Cairns Deep - I've had odd dreams about trouble and fires and it's unsettled me. I have heard numerous rumours during my time spent at home about all sorts of gangs and cults forming. I am not sure if this is related but my gut tells me the village needs our help regardless. To the rest of you, your help is as ever appreciated to keep the North safe. Penny, I look forward to seeing you again. Travel soon and keep safe. Nala -------------------- Stacey

Hey all,
I've spent the last few months in Cairn's Deep, been doing some deep thinking and talking with the Cairn itself and I've come to a strange conclusion: the large cairn that the village is named after has no lore or memory connected to it. As we know northern tribes exist for glory, so every skirmish and minor hero is recited in tales and songs. With Major events and heroes being celebrated in permanent ways, which is why having such a large structure uncelebrated is most strange. If I had to guess, I would say it is from the first age. There are signs that there was a fairly large fight here some time within the last year which was followed by some excavations. So to recap for those who have forgotten or weren't in attendance, we were called in a dream to the village of Cairn's Deep, by the entity known as "The Heart of the Blizzard" or "The Guardian of The North". The village had been conquered rather than raided in the normal northern style. At first we suspected a group I had thought about known as the Storm Crows, who we crafting a ritual to assail the North on the behest of a creature known as "Gallaenar". However it turned out the group we encountered was the Blood Wolf tribe. We attacked the village and defeated the Blood Wolf warriors who had occupied it, we then discovered a ritual that had been set up in the druid's grove to attack the ley line. We did however find that the Village defenses were weakened by us removing the current Crow's Wife because of the route of undeath she had chose to travel and that the Druids in the area had been wiped out, further weakening the areas supernatural strength. We reversed the ritual and having discovered the Blood Wolves has been enslaved and bent to the will of the Storm Crows made our way to the Storm Crow camp, destroyed the ritual dominating the local wolves and drove off the remaining crows thus freeing the wolves. We claimed the hill fort as a guild hall and tasked the newly freed Blood Wolves with maintaining it. So on to recent events; Since Octuar I been roaming the North until the snow forced me to hunker down in Cairn's Deep Village for the deepest part of the Deathly, however during this time I have learned the following: As the Deathly receded and people began to move around more freely, I learned of a large force of warriors that was making its way towards Cairns Deep but got caught in the snow and sought refuge within an ancient fortress a couple of weeks travel from the village. The force seems to be made of predominantly Blood Wolves although other tribes are present, they are lead by a Storm Crow officer corps and intend to retake Cairn's Deep. They began gathering supplies and strength and have neared completion of this task. I did seek out a way to slow this down or prevent it, but it seems my efforts were too late. The village struggled through the winter with no druid or crow wife but with the help of the freed Blood Wolves and myself they have endured. The Blood Wolves themselves split their time between the village and the hill fort as requested. The Guardian of The North has began the process of acquiring a new druid to lead the conclave that was wiped out and that vacuum of power will be filled in time, however the loss of the Crow's Wife has had a bigger impact than intended, The problem with the Crow Wife is her fiery death was entirely unexpected. Normally they coach their successors, her unexpected demise might mean that the village is cursed. Arranging a replacement would be the greatest help but probably require more time and effort than we can muster this weekend alone While not all of us have been revisited by the Guardian, it is apparent that one of us (at least) has been spoken to by her, although I cannot see who that is. If there is anything anyone whats me to find out for them, let me know. If not I have a few inklings in the air and will get back to you when there bear fruit. should there be nothing more, I'll meet you at Cairn's Deep for what seems to be a hell of a fight to come. Okay, the last few things I was thinking about resolved themselves:
The fortress has no real significance beyond being a convenient resting place for a force of that size, We will need to nullify the force before they set out to Cairn's Deep or it will be lost, how we do this is based on our abilities at hand and The interest that the Storm Crows hold for Cairn's Deep is for some unknown ritual significance, beyond that there is nothing of real interest here, beyond it's old age. As always Dipp, your knowledge and memory are invaluable!
I had a weird..... vision. I found myself looking down upon a familiar view, near the foot of the Cairn that gives the village its name there appears to have been a skirmish of some kind. Two bands of what appear to be the outcasts or Hadra'ach are fighting over the remains of a tinkers encampment with a strange ferocity giving no quarter until all but one lay dead upon the floor. Then the scene shifted and the last survivor is seen stealing away from the area bearing an ancient box, bound with cold iron and mystic signs. My viewpoint shifted once more, rising up from my position looking out across the expanses of the north. In the far distance an ancient black fort nestles in the mountains that mark the farthest reaches of the ice plains. An rune encrusted skull hovers over it as shadowed talons seize it and draw within the walls. What this all means, I am not yet sure. Nala -------------------- Stacey

I have checked and none of the tribes/clans that are working for the Storm Crows are doing so of their own free will. We need to find if there is a way we can free them on mass or if it would be a kindness to put them down before they are forced to do more they would regret.

Currently pondering your questions guys, but I have resolved my investigations now and came to the following conclusions:
That our best route of attack to a force the size of the one in the fortress, is to employ stealth and surprise, they do not know we are coming and a sneak attack at smaller portions of the army would be best to whittle them down. I looked at the possibilities of attacking outside the fortress in ambush points but that would be foolish, they would travel a a large force that would overwhelm us, however looking into the make up of the Fortress it requires a group of this size to bunk up in separate areas of the structure, so we could take out smaller portions more efficiently at the location. Also given the fact that a huge majority of the army is being oppressed the "alliance" they have is factious at best, I believe we can also take major advantage of this disparate nature of the army in our assault. For now I think other than the answer to your question I have yet to consider, this is as much information as I can gather before you meet me in Cairn's Deep. Dipp -------------------- Jules

Ok last few things you guys asked and I had thought about have resolved themselves.
Nala: Your Vision. The outcasts are tribeless men who became theives and brigands. They had become the worst of us, even worse than tribes who leech off others since they don't even have a tribe for support. The survivor is no more important than the next person he just was lucky enough to live and claim the box. The boxes contents are hidden from me in shadows but the box and it's markings identify it as the sort usually used to contain dangerous relics. The fortress you saw is the one we will be travelling to and the claws represent the power of "Gallaenar" As to what all this means, it seems it is images of things that you may perceive as dangerous and your innate sense of danger. I would guess that the survivor is likely to have at some point passed the box to the force we are going against or it rests in the fortress and we will need to be wary of encountering "Gallaenar" or an aspect of his power. Gunndrick: Your question. Freeing them is preferable, they are men of the north after all. But if it cannot be achieved then death is better than enslavement to men of the North. Penny: Your question. There will be a ritual binding the totem that needs to be disrupted within the fortress. I suggest someone with spiritual power look into what is needed, my musings at a distance will prove ineffective. Closer I can work on it. Well, hope that helps us out and settles your minds.
