All,

We are gathering Mai 2nd be at the Cathedral for half passed the 10th hour.

We are going on a demon hunt.

There is a possibility I won't be there, if that happens Brian knows what we are doing.

Hello everyone!

Unfortunately, as mentioned as a possibility in her first missive, lady Serin has to attend the re-binding rites of a particularly powerful demon incarcerated by the Empire to ensure it stays incarcerated, so she sent me to keep you all updated!

Anyway, whilst reading through some of the older tombs in the cathedral I came across several references to an artefact known as "The Shard of Culling" in a tatty old parchment that pre dates the Chaos wars. It was written in ancient, but a tough few hours with my crib sheet saw me decipher it. Phew!

legend tells that the artefact fell from the heavens themselves. Those demons old enough to remember it are fearful of it, whilst the weaker willed ones will be drawn to it like moths to a flame!

I was very excited any told Lady Serin!

She had her thoughtful look for a few minutes before informing me that the Church of the Tryst were going to get hold of this artefact to use to help the Empire clear all the naughty demons from Halgar's rural lands!

I did a little bit more research and questioned some of the demons of knowledge we have bound to serve us and discovered the following:

The fabled Shard of Culling has been dismantled into 4 pieces, 2 of which can currently be scryed about.

To collect the 2 pieces would definitely require means of transportation, luckily I have a transportational rite I prepared earlier for this.

A tatty old bit of paper I found in a chest implied that the 2 pieces that currently can't scry about, would become suseptable to our scrying if we had possession of the first 2 pieces. Exciting!!

The Shard of Culling once activated simply lures Demons to it's location, other than that it has no other effects upon Demons.

Whilst upon my morning walk i was pondering the problem of attracting a small army of demons to us to cull, without actually having anyone who could fight. It was then that I saw a tall rat facing off a small force of huge looking demons. They looked very scary so I ran off holding my hat. I returned a little later to see the rat with but a few scratches standing upon a pile of demonic bodies, and thought he would be perfect to help us teach those naughty demonic marauders a lesson.

I introduced myself to him and we started talking about artifacts and pacts, and soon became BFF!

I Told Lady Serin I had invited him along to help cull the demons and she gave me a look I had not seen before, before informing me she would have to spend the day of our outing lending her ritual skills to the Empire ensuring a particular enslaved demon was kept in its prison.

I can't wait for the outing, It will be fun!

This will be extremely useful for our outing!
Let's hope we can successfully retrieve these pieces and save the empire in the name of the Tryst and her Lady Serin!
It is a shame she can't come...

But, a thing to add - I hope this rat that your bringing along is loyal to her lady Serin and the church. Otherwise, I'm very concerned that your giving your loyalty to something who conveniently saved you.

I had a long talk with the Rat about how great lady Serin is, about the Church, and how we use our powers to command demons (and about artefacts, and pacts), and he seemed very interested and will be joining us as a Lay member of the Church!

So Brian you were leading this group.

And are to be held to answer for one of our brothers throwing away his life force.

And your rat wasnt sacrificed for the loss of a priest. I would ask my lady that you find a punishment for this matter.

To Teach Brian there is always a price to pay.
