golems: onyx, coming up with the idea for an onyx golem Options

i would like to start an onyx elf wizard to go onyx golem i have gained a small idea in what i could do please advice me

in terms of the movements instead of hulking around instead walks around with frailty so still moves at 3/4 move speed and lifting the body would only need one strength

the onyx golem can still ingest poisons and potions but can no longer can take lembas (and druidic spells affect them if they do not alreaady[don't actually know whether elves can be affected by earthpower])
prerequisite: must be either onyx/jade elf or must have one MAC

minor power: all onyx spells will now have half cost but jade spells cost 25% more

medium power: 3xDay: onyx drakes stare: counts as a magical Touch of Death but only works against Living like all other onyx spells

major power: gains an aura of the onyx drake, every 5 mins within 10 ft of the golem may choose a single target to take a 6/6 heart attack (as if it was a minor heart attack)

onyx so you wont beable to have jade... so how is "jade spells now cost 25% more" a disbenefit?

medium power is way too powerful... suspend life maybe and imm to inv shape shifting as per other onyx maybe?

major power is a 6/6 to the chest every 5mins if you want to call it??? sounds unusable and too weak for a major power imo.

the medium power was the idea for that i would want to be an onyx elven wizard with the second colour be Jade and ok i would maybe double the aura it is just that it is an infinite amount along with the normal spell does 18/18

YP in this case means Yellow Paper (a reference to the fact points applications used to be on yellow paper).

I have to admit I'm not fully up to date on Jade and Onyx, but I think that they're opposites, so if you're an Onyx wizard you won't be able to standardly second colour Jade.

I suppose anything is possible with the power of points apps but getting a 2nd colour of your opposite is likely to be "not cheap" in terms of points or restrictions.

Personally I think you're going for some strupidly powerful abilities. I would also recommend thinking twice before going Golem as a wizard. I play a Bronze Golem Power Warrior. The speed restriction is debilitating and almost got me killed last dungeon. As a wizard you need to evade combat constantly, this will make you particularly weak. Plus the general benefits from being a golem won't help you all that much.

You would be way better off going for a completely non-standard multi-race.

Aura abilities are normally a defensive thing, so how about instead of "it does dmg" try for more

"1/day gains a 5min aura which will cast Onyx spell wither on the limb of an attacker (ie the arm which swung the sword) if struck. (___,___)"

have the aura as your major and do your gaze thing for a medium power and have it be a non verbal "heart break" or "heart attack" cant remember the name of the spell (does halt and 18/18 chest)
try for 1 per 2 levels and (___,___) it so you can buy more later.

minor power...

no longer costs tblp to cast cantrip and also has a -1 mana reduction from all Onyx spells cast by self to a minimum of 1 mana fully stacking with any/all other reductions.

OR

all Onyx now costs 50% less mana to cast but still takes tblp as normal cast level X2, any Jade spell cast on me works as bisbenificial, (ie 25% cold rage from a jade magic source would instead increase dmg taken by 25%).

just some ideas for you... and yes Onyx and Jade are opposites, Onyx is death magic, Jade is life magic.... hope it helps.

Potentially an Onyx Draconian (i.e. part dragon) would be an appropriate multi-race.

You're very unlikely to be able to do Jade AND Onyx as you HAVE to be evil to cast Onyx and you HAVE to be goodly to cast Jade.

I would try to get to grips on what you want from the multi-race. Many casters use their mutli-race to make them harder to kill e.g. magic only hits or last hit magic or similar.

You don't really need innates of magical onyx spells as you'll be able to cast them anyway. Snap Cast abilities may be OK or even something which means you can silent cast (i.e. cast with X seconds concentration). I wouldn't bother building in a cost reduction for spells as you can look elsewhere i.e. mutli-class for that.

thanks that is great but i would perfer to the 1 mana reductions and the spell is called heart attack, but you also gave me an idea, what about chaos verbal with onyx spells or heart attacks no longer need verbals

I would suggest that you say that you can cast heart attack without a verbal after 15 seconds concentration or similar. You may want to say that visually something happens so that Phil doesn't think you're trying to cast it sneakily without people knowing it was you.

Chaos verbals for Onyx sounds reasonable in a multi-race although you'll normally need a minimum number of words for each spell dependant on level.

1 mana reduction you may be able to get early on if you go elemental apprentice (IIRC) whereby you can't take a second colour. Phil may pass it as a one liner off the back of that.
