Hey all,
So I have decided to take the plunge and start reffing again at Laby. For those who don't know me, I used to be a ref here for more years than I care to remember, but the last time I reffed was about 15 years ago. I have just about found my feet in the system, and like to give it a try again. I am not going to make any promises that it will all definitely work out, but really hope to run a campaign that will last at least a couple of years. RL and enjoying reffing again dependent, but I generally don't commit to something unless I really think I can do it. I will be picking up the bones of an old campaign of mine, that I ran at Laby for about a year. And when I left the system I ran it for a long time in PnP, so I know a lot of the background and NPC's very well, although will obviously be heavily modified for Laby. The campaign, for a long time anyway, will be very well suited to all levels and outlooks. Maybe in a years time more of it will be suited to higher levels, but it is my intent there will always be stuff to involve all levels. I have booked to ref the open max 750 on the 3rd December. It looks like a busy day, with 2 other adventures fairly full. So perfectly prepared that it will be cancelled and Ill help Sam by crewing instead. But if interested do book on for the start of what will be a long old story. I plan at the outset to be available to ref once a month. Very occasionally more but mainly just once a month. Happy reffing opens in the main, though once underway will ref closed dungeons if people have specific objectives. I would ask for patience and understanding as I will definitely get things wrong at the start. But my focus as a ref is very much on party enjoyment and immersion. That does include providing a challenge but my prime goal isn't to "win"! I love seeing the twists and turns my stories take based on decisions and never foreseen actions from players. So yea the adventures themselves, I hope to make immersive, story focussed and the more you do of them, the more you will discover. To give an idea of who it will really appeal to. If the name Aviathar means anything to anyone still around, then eventually you may well be interested. Long term, if you have an interest, positive or negative, in undeath then you will likely be interested in parts of the campaign. Likewise if any interest in temporal magic likely there will be parts that interest you. Demons will rarely be a part of events so not a good focus. And definitely will be storylines and factions that appeal to all moralities. In the past a lot of what I have run has been off Primus, but this campaign will be pretty much firmly based on Primus, though may well stretch to Amlas, the Baronies, etc. Hope that's sparked some interest! Cheers, Sean |

That's awesome news Sean! I'm glad that you're picking up the reffing baton. I'm not sure I can make 3rd but I will certainly try to play/crew one of your dungeons soon!

Will book to play or crew! Sounds good x Thx for the great response all! Looks like will be enough interest for it to go ahead, just hope we do ok for crew with 2 other adventures on the same day. Prefer Chris and Rob get to play, but at least know they will help if needed! I know way early to be asking, but considering so many signed up straight away, please do let me know roughly what you are playing. Either here or by PM fine. Guess I'd best get writing, now where did I put those fag packets... Cheers, Sean |

Me too - should be fun Hey all, So looks like this is getting full, with 11 people currently booked on. I am about half way through writing it. Anyone else who wants to let me know what they are playing, helps me tailor stuff a bit more. But more importantly, looks like it's going to be a pretty big party on a busy day for the caves. Rob Benson very kindly a reffing for me. But could really do with a couple of monsters too, there will be a written dungeon that I can send well in advance. With plenty of ruck and roleplay! So please anyone who can do come and monster! And if interested in regular npc roles in the campaign even better, just let me know. I will put up the brief in a week or so. Will be happy to deal with comms, lucky ideas and suchlike after that. Just send me a PM. Cheers, Sean |
