Edwin brushed down his new uniform. It was white. Not dull white but new iridescent white. It said “I am here and you will pay me attention”.

The flames on the front seemed alive and were as bright as the fires burning in his heart.

Edwin had a cause, a meaning and a purpose. There would be no turning, no compromise and no mercy.

He moved to sharpening his sword, single long deliberate movements, stroking the whetstone along the blade, already sharp as a razor. Joining the others in his squadron, he stepped into the transport. He was ready to strike out against sinners and today he would bring light to the darkness!

Edwin looked around. The fury and noise had abated and silence had settled on the area. The birds had scattered and only The Knight of the Burning Sun remained. Around them lay the dead, already starting to die in the midday sun. Edwin noted with pride that his uniform remained unstained, the blood and gore slipping from material to leave no mark. As unblemished as the purity in his soul.

A small noise drew Edwin’s attention… one sinner remained alive, curled in a tight ball, protected by the bodies of the others. If hey had stayed silent, they may have passed unnoticed but, noted Edwin, evil always reveals itself to the pure.

Edwin moved in for the kill…
