Greetings all inhabitants of the East,
It has been many years since I have employed heralds to spread a message such as this. I acknowledge the struggles of the masses since the ties to the East and the rest of Primus were re-established with the instalment of the 20th Light of Heaven. However, the heavens have aligned and the ancestors whisper of a new age for the people of the Orient. The year of the Snake nears its end and the coming year of the Horse has auspicious implications. For the common folk, blight will not be common and the rice shortages will end. The Horse is a symbol associated with fertility, heat, fire and the colour red is particularly lucky. I am sure that it is superfluous to remind those reading this that the horse is a social animal and that red is associated with love and romance. As such, marriages arranged during this year will be particularly blessed and watched over by our ancestors. With this in mind, and with the coming of age of the 20th Light of Heaven, I am pleased to announce that this new years days (ooc 31jan to 2nd feb) be a high holiday across the realm in celebration of the commencement of the search for an appropriate Empress. This marriage will mark a new Dynasty and will influence the Empire for ever more. I encourage you to make your celebrations as extravagant as you can in order to honour the Ancestors. Be ready to serve your Emperor should the call be made. Yours in Honour, Ly-Chee Panama Oracle of the East. -------------------- Laura

I am not sure 'Jade Empire' is a name many of the House of Panama would be happy using for those lands.....

Many thanks for the new years message and predictions Ly-Chee Panama-Sama, The new year does look prosperous indeed!
To Pow Pow Panama-san; The most Benevolent Jade Emperor seems happy with the name of his Lands (The Jade Empire), as are the people that live in it. Who are those in house Panama to question what the Honourable Emperor calls his own lands? Perhaps you should inform those who would be unhappy to reconsider their displeasure. It's called free will! Something largely foreign to the Jade Empire.

Well....
Unless you are talking about a completely different land and a completely different Emperor it never used to be called Jade anything, mainly because anything suffixes with the word 'Jade' tended to not finish its sentence before being disintegrated. The Jade Lotus came to represent betrayal and dishonour. I have been deep in contemplation regarding the death by 1000 cuts for some time however and we could be talking about a totally different place, however as the message comes from the most wonderous LyChee Panama I am confused Pow-Pow Panama -------------------- |

Yes the lands and the Nature of the East has been changed over the Years by the mists. Much history has been lost and many places and friends too.
I understand that the honorable Panama family have previous years dealt with the Jade lotus. The Peons all know the current lands on the East as the Jade Empire and it is the Jade Emperor upon the throne and through their belief and from that belief the will of the Jade Emperor that hold back the mist and keeps the land stable. The East over the years has been known by many names and have been many places, now the lands have come together it seems that the name the Jade Empire is now the name the peasants speak. Well that was a far more sensible response. - Thank you
Clearly the peons shouldn't have such power and must be dealt with PPP -------------------- |

Yet it is our Role to take care and nurture the peons as they are the ones that provide us food and it is there honor, loyalty and belief that gives the Emperor the strength of will to hold back the secundal mists from our lands
We are all servants of the Emperor and have our roles to play to keep the lands balanced and healthy Lord Naga Yusaki |

OOC: Who are you talking to Tony? As far as I can tell this is an open IC thread and as such anyone is entitled to respond IC if they want to do so.

-OOC - This whole thread is part of IC Brief for a new oriental campaign I am running next yet.
This is part of the overall plan to bring the entire Orient together combining Panama, The Hagashi Clans and the new Clans together. I would very much like to include Panama in this. But the whole reason that there is lots of different clans is because Panama didn't want there toes stepped on when we started all those years ago. Essentially if Panama don't want to be part of the new Orient then that is fine but I would like all the clans to be involved but does not make a difference to me either way Sam |

OOC:-
Tony dont say. untill you have been around as long as those that play Panama char, without whom there would be no eastern side of the game. just saying.... Jay This is more than irrelevant, everyone has had their own campaigns in various setting, it doesn't make it theirs to do with as they wish. There would have been an eastern side to the game regardless of who played what first, someone always starts something at some point. All of the panama stuff I know nothing of, as I started doing oriental stuff with the Snake Clan crew. And when they went away I started the Crane Clan stuff, I am one of the most responsible people for keeping the oriental lands story arc going, way after the Panama and Snake crew stopped. Far from saying I was the only one, but definitely on top of things. (the Theme day not with standing, that was a special event) There is a lot of negative press for the Oriental system, which I personally have been fighting against for years and this post is part of that. Don't go telling someone they have no right to voice an opinion, when what he says is keenly accurate. If you have no current stake in something that others are crafting, either be constructive or leave well alone. Yup, I had a 10k Panama, on an oriental myths doing oriental plot when you were about 8... Which does I agree make me sad. Rob, while you have every right to voice your "objections" to this post, please bear this in mind: This was a post based on a new campaign, that Sam and Laura are crafting and got Zoe to write and veto the post before it was put up. This was just a nice bit of flavour text to put up so that those who are actually interested, and are in the middle of, in being part of a campaign. If your character was aware of the results of a 8 year campaign that the Crane/Black Dragon and "friends" have been part of, you would see why your character was met with "frowns and scorn" This goes to most of the people who posted here to just "have a voice" where it wasn't necessary: If you want to be part of this story Arc or even the campaign, please book on to the dungeons and be part of it. However if not I say this: I don't jump on your campaign-based threads and post negativity, this is out of respect for your story arcs and plot. please return the favour. -------------------- Jules

I didn't object actually
I posted an IC response, got an IC reply I was happy with IC. Tony then hijacked the post OOC and basically said our opinions were not relevant. I purely pointed out that some of us had been playing orinentala on a campaign for a very long time and that his position was undesirable. Depending on the level I would be Quite tempted to brush off my remaining oriental character for a slight change of genre. Rob -------------------- |

I meant IC objections, but yeah as I said if people want to be involved I'm more than happy for people to be there for the ride, more the merrier in fact Hang on, why take an OOC objection to an IC Objection? Seems perfectly fine if someone wants to act / say something IC without an immediate OOC offence being taken. Seems also just another way to get broader IC dynamics. I have to say the fact that the initial post came from Lychee did indeed pique my interest. BBB I didn't take OOC objections, I replied IC to Rob, but I understand why Tony said what he did, and you're right, IC stuff is great, but telling people they have no right to say something about what they have worked hard to achieve for the last 8 years, just because someone else did something in the past, is far from constructive or beneficial to broadening IC dynamics. The current Oriental world/story is most likely FAR from where the Panama crew left it, and has had very little (bar the Themeday) to do with them. Laura thought it would be nice to involve some of those players in what we have crafted, in a lovely IC message. But instead this has happened, a massively derailed IC thread, where instead of IC message of good will in the new year (which was the intention), we have aggressive messages (both IC and OOC)that serve no real purpose other than animosity. -------------------- Jules

Agreed but you came back to me like i had been the agressor but in fact i was ponting out that someone else had been rude not me (Tony). And i still play my panama monk and thug. and have the right to to reply to such. so would have expected a family member to of informed me of such a change! this is why you should never write a message for somones charater as you dont know what they realy think, or who they would talk to about such things. or orderd not to talk to others (we can be a bit like that in Panama). lol ill be around on the Xmas 2 day to chat this over with anyone. but guys pls remember that we all put alot of work into this too, but its great that you are all moving it foward and intend to join in as one or two of my Panama charaters. now all done and lets move on. hope oyu all have a great Xmas and see you on Xmas 2 day. And i still play my panama monk and thug. and have the right to to reply to such. so would have expected a family member to of informed me of such a change! I came back as I did, as the way you came across (and we all know that text is the worst way to covey a message), that Tony had no right to defend his hard work because he didn't play with panama all that time ago. Bearing in mind that the panama arc has had absolutely no bearing in what we have done. We have had no interaction with that story arc and what we have done and the changes we have made to the Oriental system, is purely our own hard work (ref+crew/players). I'm sure you can see why that would make anyone "put up walls" as both Tony and Rob have both done. People want to defend what they have made. this is why you should never write a message for somones charater as you dont know what they realy think, or who they would talk to about such things. or orderd not to talk to others (we can be a bit like that in Panama). lol As I already said, the original post was written by Zoe, not Laura (she just put it up here). So it was written with her knowledge of her own character (we put our homework in after all) ill be around on the Xmas 2 day to chat this over with anyone. but guys pls remember that we all put alot of work into this too, but its great that you are all moving it foward and intend to join in as one or two of my Panama charaters. now all done and lets move on. hope oyu all have a great Xmas and see you on Xmas 2 day. Jay Couldn't agree more with this sentiment, all I want for the orient is to a) lose the nasty stigmata that we have thats makes all non-oriental's hate us, and I hope alot of people have recognised that I have been working towards this goal and b ) unify the oriental groups, but given history this might not happen as Panama has cloistered themselves off with their "retreat from the west" (I really hope that is old news and long gone order.) but IC there will always be some tension (would be boring otherwise). And merry xmas to you all. -------------------- Jules
