The reports were slow to come in from Bornheim, so this news is now a month or so old.

The battle that had raged before continued throughout the week, descending into sparse, decisive fights.

The first news to spread was of the ritual strikes and subsequent destruction of the shield on the temple of St Michael; eyewitness reports of the shield breaking as the elite troops of the Baron smashed into the temple defences. Of Radah and the support of his high priest. A towering ivory and gold warrior. A shadowy figure known simply as the red man, torrents of fire flowing out from his staff. The troops smashed into the defenders of the temple, time and time again. Relentless like the ocean against a wall, only to be defeated and pushed back. The defenders taking their opportunity to become the aggressors and move out of the temple into the streets of Bornheim. The fighting there was vicious and brutal, the heroes struggling under the weight of the sheer number of the Baron’s troops, but still they persevered. There were some reports of a small white dove following these heroes or maybe one of their number; a man who would reach out to those in need as he passed, and renew them with his touch. The heroes made hard progress along the streets, attempting to reach the fortress above, until they were repelled by a shield wall of the Baron’s elite. From behind our heroes, a man in red robes appeared. There are whispers that he was burning with the brightest fire and light. With his hands raised high, the sky parted and then rained down fire upon the shield wall, burning the troops to a crisp.

The fight to the fortress had been won but the battle in the town still raged between the angels and the Baron’s forces.

It was not until early evening when a rumour was heard and soon spread, that the risen Baron had been defeated.

In the days that followed the fighting gradually died out as it became obvious that the forces of Radah had won the battle. The Circle encampments, erected on the outskirts of Borheim to ensure the chaos and flagrant disregard for the edicts by the visitors from the north was contained, remained in place, overseen by Scheinder himself, awaiting a representative from Radah to meet with them to discuss his secured barony.

In Roadsmeet, the sister town to Bornheim, people had reported food rotting, plants withering and livestock struck down for no apparent reason. Others had reported a man in simple robes wearing no shoes walking out of Bornheim, where he trod left a trail of death and destruction. Then as the dawn rose across Bornheim the next day people saw a man in bright gold armour heading towards the fortress. He was accompanied by a small white dove who he seemed to be talking to as they made their way, life springing back behind them as they moved through parting mists.
