Dear church members of Unity,
I am deciding to leave the church of Unity for many a reason:
1) I feel that the name of this church isn't living up to what is says to be. The church is supposed to have all of the guild members in unison however I feel that I'm not a part of this family. Even though I've had many days where I've loved being in the church, I feel that now my place in the family is slowly fading away.
2) Even though Unity is a church of helping and mercy, I myself have some very strong views about the use of weapons. Unfortunately I find myself encountering even more people within Unity being weapon-wielding priests whereas I am not. Another reason as to why I feel I don't fit in this family.
3) I (due to my younger nature) cannot adventure with most church members. By the time that I've matured I feel that the guild itself would've crumbled however the church in itself will still be remaining this isn't necessarily a bad thing however I did want this family to grow and I feel that it'll lose it's umph within the community.

In summary I'd like to leave this church due to the fact that I feel quite isolated within my own little 'bubble'. I really do hate to leave you all however I feel it necessary as I need to live my life in peace, not misery.

I hope that you can all understand my decision. .
Sorry my friends,
Jacob
Your goodly pure priest.

Well, that's a thing, so.

It's not my decision, on account of having made Michael high priest when I got myself killed the last time, but there's some stuff that you're saying that doesn't seem to me to make sense. So I'm throwing in my 2 grulls worth.

The Church's name isn't supposed to be about all of us acting in unison. Mostly its always been the opposite, lots of us have had issues with different faiths before and we don't agree on things a lot of the time. The big stuff, though, about how people shouldn't get killed for being who they are, and people should get a second chance, and we should be willing to get in the way of those people who're hurting people who can't defend themselves, that stuff we agree on. Unity, conceptually, refers to the fact that all peoples of all faiths and none are united by a common bond of humanity (or whateverity, its not just humans, just about all people being people) and the world is a better and kinder place if we all realise that and look out for each other.

We're not a Church of healing and mercy alone, although those things are part of what we're about. Healing and Mercy are what Shaehan, and the Sacred Heart, and other faiths like that, are all about. We're not them, and whilst we believe that everyone should get a fair chance, at the point at which they start hurting people who can't help themselves, we step up and stop that. And sometimes that does mean killing people, and that's a sad thing, but it does and I make no apologies for that.

Not wanting to stay part of a faith because you don't think it will have much influence isn't the best reason for leaving. We'll muddle through, we always do, we're never going to be the most popular faith or have the shiniest temples (do we have any temples?) or the biggest pile of scrolls, but we'll carry on doing it because that's what we do. If I could hold it all together by sheer stubbornness I would, and I agree it would be a grand thing if we could all meet up more often (although mostly we tend to do that in the summer, for the picnics and it being nicer and more of our sort of trouble seems to happen then).

So all of that said, so, if you don't feel this is the place to be, then you should go (that being down to Michael, but that's what I think), and good on you for being brave enough to say it. Better by far than sneaking off as has been done before, that's a poor thing. No-one here is really about telling people what to do, that's most of the point. We'd be a fairly rubbish faith of free will and brotherhood else. I'll try and speak to Michael, but although i hope you'll reconsider, good luck to you if you don't, and always follow what you think is right, no matter who tells you otherwise.

Thank you Tavis for your opinion on the matter and that would be very helpful if you could contact him.
I'm sorry if I misinterpreted the name of the church however your courage proves to be a little ray of light at this dark tunnel.

It is a shame, to lose a brother and I have lost so many...

I have stood with this church, ever since my shabby self appeared here, stripped of home, plane, family and my memories. I was taken in with warm smiles and warmer drinks, give shelter and most importantly, family. From this I grew and found friends, home and rebuilt that which I held dear, but not once did the Church ever ask me for anything.

I have rarely, if ever crossed paths with mercenary members of this church, but those I have and indeed those that don't are all the family I need in this fabulous world I now call home. The church has risen and fallen in the eyes of a guild structure, but the church stood, as did many of us with it and weathered the storms of Favour.

I guess what I am trying to say Jacob, is this, The church will stand by you and give you all the company you need and will never ask for anything in return, maybe that is why you feel alone, there is no-one to ask you for favours? Sometimes you can feel alone in a full room? Of course, but Faith will show you that with Everdawn at your side (and he always is), you are never alone.

In Faith,

Abel

Hello Jacob.

Like Abel, the Church took me in when I needed it. It's older than you think, and years back - the original priests did not bear weapons. Unfortunately we live not in a world of peace, and like Tavis says we will give everyone a chance (even Him), a second, third fourth and fifth - and if it doesn't work we'll keep going. But when innocent and defenseless people are in danger we will do what we can, even if it's to raise a sword.

Sometimes it's easier to follow a God with a list of rules of what they perceive to be right and wrong. But humanity and mortality is so much stronger than that. Unity will guide you, but ultimately you do what you feel is right.

Which faith are you looking to join? You will always have our support and love in whatever you do.

Let the virtues of love, hope, faith, peace, courage and mercy be with you.

Clovis

Thank you a Clovis for these words. And yet again, even more stories of Unity being the church that allows the innocent to come out on top. I have not got a clue as to what faith to join next. I shall have to look for one that follows my views.
Thank you Clovis.

Callum,

I am so sorry for not being here when needed I have been away traveling and often my journeys take unexpected turns.

You can do whatever you feel is right to do, you and you alone will know where and when your calling will take you and you have my and everyones blessing to go.

I hope you find your own path and the journey is kind to you.

Michael

- "How about, the first blow he hits in combat may be a sever blow, this must be done at 1/2 speed"

Awesome...

I was never one for religion

It never made sense to me, why should I follow the rules of a God?
Why is killing in the name of one OK, but not another?
Why do some put emphasis on helping, but others on smiting?

I don't think of Unity as a Church at all. It's not like the others. No-one tells you what to believe or how to do it. You just do right because it's the right thing.

I wouldn't have joined otherwise.
