Some of the lands most famous heroes were seen heading towards the top notch Flaming Phoenix tavern in Sellaville. Whilst it had been hired by the Inquisition for the day, rumour quickly spread around the city as to who was in attendance, and the assumption they had been hired to deal with the demonic army that had been seen forming within the dome surrounding the Shadowdells. This assumption was later confirmed when later were seen a group porting in consisting of Bartimaeus – Champion of the Ivory Drake, Lord Naga, a somewhat smug looking Truft, and his companion Argo, Lady Serin with her devout Tristan, Tirima, High Priest of Shaehan and lastly Sirac the Glorious Drave. They all looked the worse for wear; their adventuring garb tattered, and soaked in what looked to be some kind of foul blood. It later transpired they had heroically battled their way through the demonic forces that had flooded through a portal to the Shadowdells, met with the coven of witches who acted as supernatural guardians of the land, slew the corrupted place spirit of the ‘Dells after the witches had severed his link with the land – allowing him to be reborn without his corruption They then stormed the demonic forces underground lair at the Heart of the Dells, and slew their dark general before breaking the rite keeping the portal open to the demonic plane of Trendor. They achieved far more than was expected of them in a single day, powering through when most would have headed home to return another day. Talk was of the supreme sacrifice made by Barimaeus during an epic battle with the armies demonic general where he was said to have drawn upon his very vitae for renewed power with which to battle the demon. Talk was also of High Priest Tirima doing similar so he could renew his power, allowing him to continue healing the group. A few days later and inhabitants from the rural lands started to arrive at the City, talking tales of how the supernatural dome that surrounded the Shadowdells had disappeared, and how demons had started venturing out from within – though without any seeming order. |
