Hi everyone, I am a long time larger but new to Labyrinthe and I'd love some advice from you on how to get started e.g. whether I can come on my own or have to join an existing group, what type of event is good to start with etc. Thanks a lot in advance and look forward to joining you.

Hi
People are talking about arranging an adventure next weekend that would suit you well, a "pre-8th" or 8th level http://www.labyrinthe.co.uk/forum/index.ph...c=31418&hl= Just bring yourself (and/or any friends who might be interested!), a pair of sturdy boots and clothes you don't mind getting dirty/chalky, and an idea of the kind of character you would like to play. It can be as simple as profession, or you can go deeper by shaping a personality, background and think of a backstory. People on the day would be more than happy to help talk you through the rest! 9.30 would be a good time to aim to get down to give time for shaping th details. Have fun! Dave H |

Labyrinthe is an inclusive club and you can come on your own, with a group of friends or even a horde if you have them.
I personally recommend that the first time you come down you do so to play as ou caves site is a place of wonder and surprise the first time you take part. Ideally a starting point is a "Pre-8th" or "New player Event" adventure but you can play on pretty much any event although playing a lower threshold level is most advisable when you are new to the system. First things to do if not already is get yourself registered on the main site so you are able to book online and send an email to bookings@labyrinthe.co.uk when the owners can seek to be as accommodating and helpful as possible in getting you started. Basically if you advise of a date when you were looking to come down they may be able to get a suitable event arranged for you if there isn't one already arranged on that day or on a nearby day. There is a basic handbook that can be downloaded from the main site and the rule books are £5 each (there is basically one for each class bracket, warrior, scout, priest, wizard, druid and neuronicists as well as one for races and general post 8th abilities) and can be picked up from the caves itself o again there may be a possibility they can send them out in a bundle for you if you aren't that local. People here will generally be very willing to help you get organised in advance and provide advice etc. to you. Generally my advice is play what you want to start with especially is you have experience of LRP, don't worry about making mistakes or the character being perfect that will come with time and system knowledge and game world understanding. Above all else have fun and welcome to Labyyrinthe. -------------------- Gordon Court

Thanks a lot. I am glad to know that people on site are happy to help would you suggest I Read the handbook in advance or it can be glanced on site and then give it a better look if I decide to come again?

I would read the handbook in advance so you know how life, AC and damage grades work as a starting point.
Having an idea of what type of character you want to play is also a good idea e.g. warrior, wizard, priest etc. and then if you are going to play something with "power" like a wizard or a priest you understand ho they work. You certainly can just turn up and play and learn as you go but in my opinion have a grasp of things and being a little prepared helps you have a better day and get involved with less confusion. -------------------- Gordon Court

Hi,
Recent returner to LARP here myself and can vouch for the friendliness and helpfulness of all the players and ref's at the caves. The system is SO flexible, the base handbook available online just scratches the surface of the system. There has been a recent re-release of additional source books that cover each character archetype in detail (warriors, scouts, wizards, priests, druids, psionics). The system will basically cover ANY character concept you can possibly think off! Carl -------------------- Carl
