Labyrinthe Forum _ Church of Talthar _ The Dukes of Malice

Hello!

My name's Argo, and I'm not from your church thingumy (And don't even have a spirit, us oceans seemed to get left out there), but me and some friends have been doing some things that apparently we should tell you about.

Over the past few months some friends and I have been doing our best to stop a nasty demon tree that's been growing. We found lots of things out about who made it and his friends. One of the things we found out is that there's 7 dukes of malice, and they're aspects(?) of the seven rings(?) of some Malice lady, who's the goddess of dispair or something. Winter's Ash tells me that this is your opposite and we should tell you so you can help us beat them with sticks.

We know who two of them are; one begins with I and I think you know about. The other's name I've got written somewhere. We also know where they both live and how to get there.

Erm, We sort of made a deal with one of them as well (We needed to get passed him and couldn't kill him) - We've got to send one of you people off to see him so he can sacrifice you. We didn't say who, when or whether you have to be helpless however. So we're thinking that your best fighter (Someone suggested Harpell, whoever he is) and perhaps some friends to go kill him.

If someone who's in charge or something wants more information then let me know and I'll send on lots and lots of information.

Well, we only found out as Winter's-Ash was in Alguz yesterday and they were all talking about Mr I and saying his name. No one's head exploded in fire which surprised me.

That and the fact we went to one of their places (It wasn't a nice place, we almost gave up and went home. It was like there was no point carrying on!) today got me thinking, I've got a paper saying Mr I is one of seven, and there's seven dukes of malice. And they're working with Mr I and borrowing his stuff. It all makes sense that he's one of them. That's why some people from Talthar should come and help us out later on, we're going to bash Victus so that Mr I can't steal all his power.

And whilst we're at it we could introduce them to Arbor who can send some of you to see the other Duke. Although if any angels go the Twisted Tree won't really like it and will sap their strength.

The God's name I shall not utter here...

The church who follow(ed) her were called the church of Malice. The Mistress of Dispair does indeed mirror our Lord Talthar in that she has seven aspects that she uses to bring dispair to the world...

This Chap who's name begins with I? I'm assuming you mean the man who was somehow controlling these evil bronze demons to steal a Lady... someone who can only be killed while you are holding a rod or something?

What was this mans name? (I don't remember I was not paying attention)

You say you also know of another?

I think you need to probably stop saying thingumy... and take a deap breath and tell me what is going on from the very beggining with some decent details...

if these people are of the Church of Malice, then I will ensure that you are helped as much as you can be. they must be given no quater.

Tell me what you know.

Harpell
(now very much paying attention)

I am intending to assist those of the Natural Trust in bringing a religious solution to the matter.

Yes, there's 4 rods that Stirge said are needed to kill him. They also ward you from fire and demons. They're in a safe place at the moment, although the Demons are trying to get them back - they stole me yesterday to try and get them off me, luckily I escaped from the void before they could.

Well, saying it has almost killed Jahlid about 5 times now, so we don't say it unless we have to. It begins with an I and then a D and ends in 'Ris'. unless you and everyone who can hear you saying it are feeling brave I'd suggest not saying it aloud. The first time we did everyone who heard it got struck with demonic fire and Jahlid's heart turned to fire, the second time only Jahlid heard it and his heart tried to turn to stone, the third his heart turned to ice... you get the idea!

Yep, met him as well. He wasn't very nice, Kerillan Vollar is his name. He's the one we'd promised to send a Talthar priest to so he can (try) and sacrifice him. We never did say when or whether we'd send the biggest priest with the biggest stick we could find with ten of his friends.

As for decent details, Mr I is growing a tree which he was going to use to steal all of Victus' power (although killing Victus is a good thing, stealing his power isn't!). We got involved because it's a nasty demon tree - it had seven branches to start, although we've broken 4 now I think. Whilst doing this we found lots of letter, one which refers to Mr I as 'One of Seven' and one that mentioned the a Duke of Malice. I did some scrying and found out Krellian's name and that there's 7 dukes.
What we're doing at the moment is trying to kill Victus before Mr I can do it.

Victus has got some backup plans (I can't say too much, what we're doing is protected by someone else's ritual against scrying I think, and don't want to break it so Victus can find too much out beforehand) and one was in this Despair place. We managed to call in some favours owed (again can't talk about this too much) to get us a letter that would allow us to not get brutally killed by this Krellian. It didn't quite work so Jahlid made the deal with sending you lot there.

Krellian was wearing a tabard with 7(?) broken interlocked rings, which I think's like your's?

Mr I just makes sense to be another of these 7 dukes - He's "One of 7" and one of the dukes borrowed his demons in Alguz?

If you need to go to either place I can get you there - directly to Krellian's realm and roughly to Mr I's - we've never been there but I'm told I've got the right portal keys.

Hmmm and this Idris chap is living alguz you say?

Harpell

(who is very much not scared of having his head blown up by worshipers of her, on account of killing way to many of them to count)

I don't think so, Winter's-Ash just said you were all talking about him in Alguz and some people were talking of coming to find me to get the rods.

As far as I know he lives in the Idrasi Wastes, which is a load of places he's stolen and jammed together. Several years ago he tried to steal bits of Primus but Stirge and his friends stopped him, which is how we got the rods and the portal keys. I've never been there myself, just found out what others know.

it amazes me that no one has thought to mention this to anyone before...

I tell you what if I saw some bad guy with a robe on whith a shattered elberthian star I'd mention it to the church of Elbreth, so they could hunt him down and kill him a lot!!

Sigh...

well please keep us apriased there are a number of priests able to help... and and when time allows Aven, Thor and I will go and kill this Idris man and his seven brethern...

Sigh...

My apologise for interfering but there appears to be some confusion.
Idris is not a servant of this Malice god. It is a Demon in her own right.

The Duke we met was a servant of this god malice and was working with Victus to achieve an ends.

The realm he lives in is controlled by Malice. Arbor, a druid from the Shedeff forest, has agreed to carry members of your faith to this world is he wishes.

I spoke with this duke of Malice, who was said to be very powerful, and in exchange for him allowing us to destroy the tree of Victus he asked for a sacrifice of a Talthar priest to be given to him.
Fortunately he is stupid and accept a promise form myself to find a Talthar priest and get him to travel to his realm.

So if someone could point me in the direction of a powerful priest of Talthar capable of fighting him I will happily show them, and any companions they wish to take, how to enter the realm.

Well, up until yesterday I just thought he was a random demon trying to take over primus. It was Winter's-Ash who told me about the Dukes of Malice being people you don't like - We're no good at priest stuff really. Not many of your churches come and preach to the sea! The only churches I know much about are the Dead Heroes, Elbereth and Tsu-Ling. And even then I don't know much more than the name and what they believe in - not many priests come to preach to the sea!

Argo

Oh and Jalid, I'm beginning to think that Idris might be another duke - he likes the number 7 a lot, and is definatly "One of Seven", and it would explain the link and how we got the letter.

Please, Harpell, if you meet someone like that, feel free to deal with him yourself and tell us about it later. It's not poaching or anything.... we haven't called dibs on killing all of the evil cults who happen to object to our theology in particular.

(The current crop of deranged evil-god wannabes seem to be wearing a design that looks like a star shaped void. Not that I'm an expert on evil cult fashions or anything.)

Please can some one from the church contact me about some further information we found about the INCREDIBLY POWERFUL servants of your gods opposite goddess.
Also if any of you feel like donating a little time, effort, resources or vitae to stopping them I'd be ever so greatful.
Sorry I was murdered AGAIN by this group and a friend of my friends died and we found the re-empowered altered shell they made for Victus and I don't think we broke it, because apart from Jessiah, Branwen and sort of me we are not priests.
Hopefully someone can or will help even if it's just scrolls.
In Hope,
Winter's Ash
