Amendments to the Orders Options

This matter was raised on Starsday, and it is best to raise it here now things are calmer.

Firstly, can the rules for Knights Templar be changed to all Holy Knights and their ilk to join? It seems only natural.

Secondly, if it is possible to rekindle the Knights Arcaanus for those of us who have forsworn weapons, that would be ideal. I was forced by circumstance to submit to the order of Knights Warmage and, with the greatest of respect to Malcolm, am totally unsuited to the order. I respectfully ask to be released from the choice forced upon Silver Company by circumstance.

Whilst many duties have seen me largely work through intermediaries more than I might like in recent times, it may be of interest to those such as Isaac that I have remained a Knight Arcaanus myself and the Order could be re-established as an alternative to those who feel that the role of Warmage is not for them and that there are less martial ways for them to support their fellow Knights. Would need someone rather more vigourous and active than I to lead, but I can provide instruction if nothing else. If this is of interest I am happy to discuss it further.

Forgive my intrusion… But I wondered what the Order Arcarnus is/was and how they work?

I have recently decided to throw my lot in with yourselves, Having returned from my sabbatical with my sponsor, I was deeply dismayed to see the state the Knights had got themselves into... and felt... well best do something to help rather than lament it.

With that said I am a librarian by trade... and not really one for swinging a sword (or shield) about so many of the orders are... well they are not really for me.

I'd be interested to hear more about the order Arcarnus.

Also while I am writing if you have funds available I am happy to scribe scrolls for the knights stores... I can knock up most causing miracles should you have any specific requirements.

I formed the Knights Arcaanus in my tenure as Lord Knight, about ten years or so ago. I felt that the Warmages and Templars were dwindling orders, and there was no real order for psychics,followers of nature, or even priests or mages of a more scholarly leaning. That and of course, being a Knight of the Land isn’t always about having a shield and sword.

It thrived as a successful order, but Tai disbanded it a year or so later to bring back the Warmages and Templars.

I believe the suggestion this year, is to add the Arcaanus as an additional order, which I think is wise.

Now... what to do with the Seekers... why don’t we just merge them with the watch and be done with it?

I would also like to echo the idea that the watch would be a terrible place for myself and my colleagues. Why do you think a change is needed there Andric? You'd just recreate a situation where there is no suitable order for a large group of Knights which you had previously found troubling for druids and psychics.

Might I enquire what the issue is with having an order with few members?

I wouldn't see that it matters greatly, as long as the order serves a purpose for the kights as a whole and gives a home to those of us who feel a kinship to it's tennants and purpose then surely thats a good thing.

I couldn't help but feel that none of the orders as they stand are "right" for me, and I can't imagine that I am alone, but equally there will be many more people to whom they are suited, the Orders of Battle and Watch if I recall always seemed well supported and the knights are at their heart a military order so thats to be expected I suppose. I geuss my feelings are that adding orders where there are gaps makes a lot of sense... but taking them away far less so, just because an order lacks support that doesn't mean it should be removed.

Previously the orders needed to field numbers to continue to function, so we are lucky to have brought them into the social structure of the Knights of the Land. So low numbers is no longer the issue it has been in ages past.
We are aware of the need for the orders to embrace as many members as possible. As said before, the discussions are ongoing; I hope we can continue to improve in this way.

As in anything you need from the stores is freely given in return to ease your duties as a Knight.

The Virtues of which I speak are those tied in Legend, with qualities we aspire to. Remstar is the Virtue of Unity, who is a fellow knight. I follow Mikaela, the Virtue of Diligence, hence my thorough consideration of things. You should consider the Virtues as heroes to honour and follow. I did not mean to confiuse you. In addition, you may call me Ash. This is acceptable to me. However, I do ask that those who write and address me, sign off with their position within the Knights.
