Hey guys, my last few attempts to organise a higher level COTC fell through, so I am happy to ref a lower points one for 4th / 5th April, or Crew it if you want to (and can persuade) Lee to ref a carry on from the previous one.

Alas I can't do either of those days. However we do have a 1k ish Baronies thing booked on 7th March, which Mr Isteed has agreed to ref - no reason why we couldn't turn that into a low level Claws thing if that worked for the rest of the party.

Sounds like a cunning plan!
May be worth contacting Isteed / rest of the party sooner rather than later if you want to hijack it for Claws. C |

It's worth mentioning that the old restrictions are a little difficult for Baronial characters who aren't Circle, but still generally support it:
"May not be members of any other open guild, organisation, Church, or similar, except The Circle. This is the only open guild that they may belong to." It means I couldn't join as my (non-Circle) Baronial, cos I quite fancy battleboarding a professional guild. Given it's a social guild, could the restriction be relaxed a little to include non-power using Baronials in the new version, and let them have non-conflicting guilds? Ta, Stuart |

That seems sensible to me, providing the non power-users are Circle loyal rather than filthy hedge.....
So who do we have on the 7th, Claws-wise? Me, Giles, Stuart, Lee and Fi? C It's worth mentioning that the old restrictions are a little difficult for Baronial characters who aren't Circle, but still generally support it:

That restriction isn't in the new almanac Oh? Er, looks like you've already updated the restrictions, Chris. Good work! I was thinking "Must recognise the Circle as the principal authority on matters supernatural." It's pretty gentle but still stops worshippers of dragons and gods from getting involved. Stuart |

It's sort of implied but yeah, that would be an awesome addition to the restrictions imho

So, any objections to adding Stuarts suggestion of: "Must recognise the Circle as the principal authority on matters supernatural", And removing: "Must support the basic political principles of the Southern Baronies". The politics in the Baronies seem a lot less clear cut than they used to, so it seems a sensible swap. Chris |

Eeek, no! I meant take out the bit about 'can belong to no other organisation than the Circle', and replace it with my suggestion above. The bit about supporting the basic political principles of the Baronies is a really good restriction. It makes it clear this organisation supports the Party Line in the South.

Yes, don't take out the bit about basic political principles! What Stuart said.

The bit about supporting the basic political principles of the Baronies is a really good restriction. It makes it clear this organisation supports the Party Libe in the South. Stuart Ok, my thinking on taking this part of it out are that when the guild was set up the politics in the baronies seemed pretty unified and clear cut. Now there seems to be some political conflict within those who rule the baronies. Members of the Circle need to appear to not involve themselves in internal politics, therefore the restriction no longer seems to fit to my mind. Maybe the wording could be altered insterad to take this into account. Thoughts? Chris |

I think the basic political principles are fine - the Circle don't get involved in politics and advise the Barons, that way nobody gets ritually struck.
There might be some political conflict, but it's within the confines of accepting ritual war is a bad thing, mmkay, and by having the current basic political structure we avoid going the way of the crazy north with their theocratic cities. You can backstab and jostle for position as much as you want, but suggesting a member of the Seven should seize power as a Waldegraf would be unthinkable. Stuart |
