Greetings, fellows
My name is Marcos van Tempel, I have a question. I am wondering, How much is Diplomacy first, Swords later really used? And how can we encourage the use of it? I was recently adventuring with a group of mercenaries, and all they seemed to be interested in was killing without thought...I am not a person of total non-violence, I am a paladin, but how can this mindless slaughter be discouraged? Marcos van Tempel, faithfully. |

I suggest you beat them with a large stick until they conform to your non violent point of view!

~sigh~
I have utilised this technique a number of times, with mixed effect. So long as you have the understanding of your comrades as to what you intend to do then it is very effective, otherwise it is wasted breath. A shame, because bloodhshed is not always necessary. Armitage |

Or ask The Lady if they are dark, then ask The Lady if they are lying to save their own skins when they say they'll change their ways, if they are not press home The Ladies virtues and favour for their continued life or kill them because they have made their choice and caused harm, pain, suffering and fear to others who could not protect themselves.
But however you choose to worship The Lady have Faith in her guidance of your hand. In Starlight, Zhara (Sorry for butting in Armitage. x ) -------------------- Fi

Its a fine line to tread, thats for sure.
However while it is an ideal that often works, you must not punish yourself if violence is the only option you are left with when diplomacy fails. We are after all, mainly mercanaries, and mercenary work is not always pretty. ~Harlem |

Thankyou my friends, this is helpful advice. Apart from the "I suggest you beat them with a large stick until they conform to your non violent point of view!" bit.
Faithfully, as always, MvT |
