So I'm thinking of starting a Kensai but appreciate they are very much a glass cannon as far as warriors go.
I was wondering what damage reductions people have taken with theirs compared to damage grades and stamina's up to 3k. With a standard spend, I can only get to still being in rubbish life with only 12/6/3 and only doing six. Has anyone gone for higher damage grades before 3k and if so, what did you sacrifice? And has anyone gone for better survivability, how do you fare compared to proper warriors? Can you still hold your own? And lastly..... any ideas on a non standard I can put in for in place of rages? I like knowing what I'm taking all the time, I can't do the change of maths in combat, it just confuses me. I appreciate I might not get anything as good, but as long as it's something that counts at all times then I'm good! -------------------- Stacey

Forearm Parry & Parry Versitility work well for my B-class Kensai. Don't forget Contra Mastery ALL Swords

I'd suggest a multirace with a damage reduction in it.
You're welcome to look at some of the DAC/Damage reduciton pts apps my wind dancer has, as I believe the Kensai is a DAC based class? -------------------- QUOTE(Jack) Only the good die young. I'd talk to Rich F about his stuff as Harley. Redders also had a gd multi race. I still think Battlemaster early doors is a strong option. I did it as Morgan and perm blade fury pretty cheap as part of 7th and 8th would have thought be cheaper for a kensai

Titan and Battlemaster really heavily plug the damage reductions issue.

Happy to chat about/show you my stuff for my axe based kensai but broadly for damage reductions I have counter master swords(that works with my axe), contra mastery o'class maces and distancing. I then have passed post Weapon Master 6 points counter mastery all weapons for 150 points table 10, then increase that to 9 points for 300 points table 11. Comes with the restriction of being bracket locked.
For more damage grades I have tradition around blade sharpening then upgrades so it stacks with other increases. I can split Ki strikes in to eight 30 second blocks and use them to give +1 max damage & +1 strength instead of magic/spirit damage. -------------------- Rich

I've tried B class a variety of ways, I'm personally not a fan of Kenzi as a class as it needs points apps really to work.
I'd suggest warlock as a base instead, you can easily do quin, get 12/6/3 and contra mastery X with the added value of some mana to get you through to 3k. grey for example means you could have easy access to damage shield at the low end of the points and then mana shield as well as some specialists. Means you are much less likely to be stuck with being horror by something or not being able to effect it. What ever your plan though get forearm parry as the first thing you do. I'd also recommend immortal. at least 3rd lv as a great and cheap damage reduction. Although I also rate angel/demon bound. |

Great suggestions, thank you all.
Rich, Jack, I'm sure I'll bug you both soon to take a look at your points apps. I hadn't considered Battle master, I'll give it a look. -------------------- Stacey
