What about people who don't read the forums? -------------------- |

Shouldn't this have been in the terms of booking on? What about people who don't read the forums? The terms say 'final booking off date to be confirmed...' - ideally, we should have advertised this date a little earlier (for which I apologise..), but I am sure you will agree under two weeks before the event is quite late to be booking off. Hopefully, no one else will want to book off, so no problems... Phil. |

Aren't there a few people still wanting to book on; so if someone wants to book off, just replace them with someone waiting to book on?

It might be me - I booked off the night section (mainly just because of my rat phobia) and if so I apologise. Hopefully someone will get to take my place - I was under the impression that player numbers weren't an issue.
J -------------------- No of course I won't ref. Are you mad?

I asked today about maybe getting on the night section. Ruling was despite the 4 crew and 7 players no more would be allowed on.

Seems like a strange decision, ho hum... Huw There are a number of clubmembers I have spoken to very recently who have kindly booked to monster - they booked on the basis of the announcement I made, and the conversation we had, that stipulated there would be no more players booking on to the event. It would be really unfair if we now allow others to book on - it would seem that they have been punished by booking to monster, where others who hung on get to play. If I were one of them, I would be sorely tempted to book off monstering, and not come to the caves at all over christmas... I feel it is really important that, should we make a statement, clubmembers should know that, all things being equal, we will stick to it. I am sure it is apparent to many clubmembers that the booking method used this year has not worked well. The idea was a good one - the aims of providing access to the end of year event at an economical cost and for bookings to be accessable to as many clubmembers as possible are good aims. The costs was kept low, on the basis there would be a large number of players, and we wanted the event to be accessable to clubmembers who potentially dont play as regularly, and maybe dont have a large group of friends to call upon for monstering favours which is why there was no 'book with a monster' scheme run this year... with hindsight, this latter part was obviously not such a great idea, as monster bookings were far to few and late in comming, which has impacted the first aim, as there are significantly less players than we desired. Unfortunatly, these events need to be booked and finalised as far in advance as possible, to allow the ref's time to write and plan the overall dungeon - and the booking method used has simply not allowed this planning to take place as early as would have been nice - which is why the bookings were closed. Needless to say, we have learnt valuable lessons from this years bookings, and will approach such events differently in the future. Phil. |

I think it was a good decision by the CMT to try something new. Experimentation is how we learn to improve stuff, and mistakes need only be made the once.
Its not had quite the desired effect and when anyone now asks why we need a "Bring a Monster to book scheme" we can point at what happens when you don't. BBB -------------------- Grey's Law: Any sufficiently advanced incompetence is indistinguishable from malice...

Makes sense Phil. Having monsters booked on with the stipulation of no more player spaces is a good justification not to change such.
